A crafty move from me here, as we could stick with the buses, but in light with the current situation at South Bank station and the roof falling apart, services are limited. We take the eleven minute/0.4 mile walk to the station with said dodgy roof and board the 0746 Northern service 2D05 to Bishop Auckland, arriving there at 0848 on Tuesday.

Trying another service 101, we exit the station to its westbound stop near Morrisons wwhere we board Weardale service 101 at 0854. We alight at Wolsingham Market Place at 0930 on Tuesday.

RTT doesn't have T&W timetables, so I took the average time between trains as 3 minutes, added on a few minutes to get from bus to train at Gateshead and added the two minute journey time to estimate a 1407 arrival.

Bustimes would be your friend in this situation. Allowing for the 5 min minimum connection time on any move, there is a 1403 departure, which arrives 1405, so you could have gotten there 2 minutes quicker. But it really doesn't matter for 2 minutes
