There is a twelve minute walk between the Miles Hill Crescent stop where we arrived and this stop served by the 2 which is in fact on Harrogate Road that seemingly has been overlooked here. On that basis, we would just miss the 1645 from here having arrived at Miles Hill Crescent at 1633.
For the avoidance of doubt, could we instead board the next departure on the 3, which is the 1651 departure from Stainbeck Lane/Harrogate Road, arriving at Cross Flatts Park at 1724? The move is still valid because it's just within half a mile, however the timings would not match at present.

Apologies..I must have mis-read the bustimes.org information, so thank you for clarifying matters.
It is such a bad mistake to have made that this is one of the instances where a suggested amendment would mean the utilisation of a different bus service would be unfair to other contributors, so that posting will be struck through and your guidance can assist a different thread contributor.

Why so? The 2 and 3 share the same route between these two points anyway?
We take the ten minute walk to the Steinbeck Lane bus stop on Harrogate Road for the 16.51 Harrogate Bus Company service 36 to Ripon Bus Station arriving at 18.25 on Monday.

Unfortunately the only other bus still serving Ripon at this time departs a minute short of our minimum connection time at 1829, so we remain with the 36 as our sole option.
