Unfortunately no, it is a ten minute minimum connection time at Gatwick (except Southern to Southern which is 5 minutes - never understand why its TOC-dependant mind!).

It being school holidays we are limited to the one route here, so we retrace our steps slightly on the 1623 Stagecoach South East service 10X, alighting at Charing Heath (Church) at 1638 on Wednesday.

You do realise there's only one service a day from here right? 
As this is a daily deviation away from Ashford Road, where all the other 10X services go, I can't see any other services within 0.5 miles so we'll have to camp for the night and return for the 0744 Stagecoach South East service 10X to Ashford International (Railway Station), arriving there at 0819 on Thursday morning.

The rules say that we should use "timetabled public transport services", so having obtained these times from Bus Times I'm hoping they are acceptable...
We walk (10 min / 0.5 mile) to New Romney station on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway where we depart at 1015. We alight at Dymchurch Station (RHDR) at 1030 on Thursday.
