Buses in Newport seem to dwindle down quite substantially in the evening (with the exception of the X24 but the next one isn't for almost an hour), a stark change compared to years ago, so we take the seven minute walk to the railway station and board the 2144 Great Western Railway service 1J37 to Bath Spa, arriving there at 2239 on Tuesday* evening.

Taking advantage of the overnight travel relaxation rule, we next board the 0500 First West of England service 174 to Radstock (Victoria Hall on The Street) that arrives there at 0559 on Wednesday morning.

With no fixed routes or timetables DRT is ruled out leaving no choice but to wait for the 15.23 Eurocoaches service 672 back to Bristol arriving at Broadmead at 16.36 on Wednesday.

Post #29901 much, much earlier from admin did suggest that DRT is acceptable.
More than ever now, I think we need to consider it useable as many more rural areas otherwise become off-bounds.

From Broadmead, we next board the 1641 First West of England Citylines service 2a to Brentry (Charlton Road Junction), arriving there at 1734 on Wednesday afternoon.

From the timings this looks to be the intriguing stop at the end of the route, where the road formerly continued across the old airfield.
Whilst the locals do consider it Brentry, or even Southmead, technically it is actually in Filton as it is across the boundary in South Glos, not in Bristol. The only way of accessing the stop though is from Bristol. The binmen hate this small patch of S Glos which is a mile and a half from the rest of Filton/S Glos, through Bristol.

We let a service 13 heading towards Broadmead come up and do it's double run before boarding the next 13, which is doing the double-run in the other direction.

We therefore depart on Stagecoach West service 13 at 1829, alighting at Shirehampton, Hung Rd at 1903 on Wednesday.
