Because of the eight-minute minimum connection time that applies at Carlisle station, this precludes us from boarding the 2310 service to Dumfries, so we take advantage of the overnight travel relaxation rule and next board the 0553 Northern Trains service to Millom that arrives there at 0753 on Saturday morning.

Cumbria's bus map shows bus route 7 here, but I can find no trace of its timetable anywhere, so we stay on the rails and await 2C42, Northern's 0914 service to Lancaster, from which we alight at Ulverston at 1016 on Saturday.

We walk to Ulverston Library (0.3 miles, 6 minutes) which from the stances, we would board Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire route 6, hopping off at Windermere Bus Rail Interchange at 1100 on Saturday.

We've not had this opportunity while I've been playing, so lets head to the railway station (5 min / 0.2 mile) and board Northern's 2H94, the 1749 service towards Carlisle. We alight at Garsdale at 1820 on Saturday.

We are really quite remote now, which is no bad thing, but it does mean that must remain in Gayle overnight. We leave on the next available journey, which is Procters Coaches Dales & District service 856 at 1115 on Sunday. We take this to Northallerton, Station where we alight at 1231 on Sunday lunchtime.

Despite the size of Preston bus station, we forget it's a Sunday night and we are a bit limited, so all we can do here (as we are just before the permitted overnight break of journey time boundary) is board the 2320 Stagecoach Merseyside & South Lancashire service 125 to Chorley (Bus Station), arriving there at 2355 on Sunday evening.

We take advantage of the overnight rule and then cross the A6 to the southbound bus stop outside the railway station, where we board the 0540 journey on Stagecoach M&SL service 125. We alight at Horwich, The Crown (stop A) at 0555 on Monday morning.

We next board the 0653 Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire service 125 to Bamber Bridge (the bus stop near Renshaw Drive on Chorley Road) that arrives there at 0744 on Monday morning.

FOOTNOTE

The times above are wrong and the correct information for the journey is detailed in the following posting.

I can't seem to find that journey anywhere however there is a 0613 from The Crown arriving at Renshaw Drive at 0654, so I'll go with that.

We are actually some distance fairly north of Bamber Bridge itself so we're too far away to walk to the railway station, so we'll have to remain with the 125 here as we continue on the 0705 Stagecoach Merseyside & South Lancashire service 125 to Preston (Bus Station), arriving there at 0717 on Monday morning.

Apologies for the faux pas about the departure time from Horwich to Bamber Bridge in my last posting. Instead of using my normal methodology, I found a 125 timetable published by TfGM, but did not check the date of its publication, which was not very recent...in fact some years out of date....:rolleyes:

We next board the 0740 Preston Bus service 46 to Longridge (the bus stop opposite the Post Office on Berry Lane) that arrives there at 0846 on Monday morning.

Don't worry, we've all been there! The number of times I've jumped a day or five leaves a lot to be desired!

We next board the 0909 Preston Bus service 45 to Blackburn (Bus Station), arriving there at 0944 on Monday morning.
