Our only option remains the High Peak Skyline 199, so we cross the road an await the 0912 journey. We alight at Manchester Airport (The Station, stand F) at 1040 on Friday.

With a 10 minute minimum connection time here, we board 1V46, Transport for Wales's 1509 departure. We fall asleep and get a fright when we wake up and realise that it is dark outside. Therefore we alight at Haverfordwest at 2013 on Friday.

Wanting a bit of excitment, we next take 2E34, Transport for Wales's 2119 service. We alight at the centre of the universe - Fishguard Harbour - at 2159 on Friday.

We walk the 7 mins (0.3 mile) to the bus station, and take advantage of the overnight rule before departing at 0605 on Saturday, on Morris Travel service 281. We alight at Llandeilo (Athletic Club) at 0635 on Saturday.

The only bus option is the 280/281 back to Llandeilo and Carmarthen. We therefore walk the 7 mins/0.3 mile to the railway station and there await the 1039 Transport for Wales service, alighting at Garth (Powys) at 1120 on Saturday.
This is just within the "leave within 2 hours of the first available service" rule as the first option out is a 280 bus at 0850...

Quite limited here, so we walk the 5 minutes to the main road and wait for the 1256 Celtic Travel service to Llanwrtyd Wells, Belle Vue Hotel arriving there at 1311 on Saturday.

From here, we ought to take advantage of the overnight relaxation rule as there's only one more train back to Machynlleth which seems a little pointless, and keen to not be stuck in the more remote Cambrian on a Sunday, we return for the first service out as we board the 0944 Transport for Wales service 1I06 to Smethwick Galton Bridge, arriving there at 1224 on Sunday afternoon.

By bus, our only option is one local journey around the suburbs of Redditch, so instead we stay at the station and await 2P48, the 1957 West Midlands Trains service, from which we alight at Lichfield City at 2114 on Sunday.

So glad we got out of Bartley Green because I couldn't find where we were!

Well unfortunately Lichfield has no buses after 17:30 so we're stuck with the train here as well. We board the 2134 West Midlands Trains service 2R53 to Five Ways, arriving there at 2218 on Sunday evening.
