There's a 5 at 1957 which gets to Leeds station for 2005, and then applying the minimum connection time of ten minutes there's a train at 2018 which gets to York at 2052, substantially earlier than the Coastliner.

Think that's the best option really as it's not acceptable to wait for 1 hour and 46 minutes at a bus stop that has ten other services serving it, all to a various range of destinations. The second paragraph of Post 2 confirms this.

Oh god, I had a feeling we might end up on the 199, as for some reason it seems to be a popular route! Tried to get my move in fast but just got pipped to the post! Well High Peaks emergency timetables are really not the best, so we avoid them as we enter Whaley Bridge station and board the 1316 Northern service 2B27 to Middlewood, arriving there at 1330 on Monday afternoon.
