We cross the road to the bus stop opposite on Gilmerton Road, and board the 1307 Lothian Buses service 3 to Clovenstone (Clovenstone Drive), arriving there at 1412 on Saturday afternoon.

* In the week, some of the peak time 3s are schedule to take about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Pretty impressive for an entirely urban bus route! The 26 and 44 follow closely behind.

We were yes, didn't even realise! Although the 16 goes via Morningside and Oxgangs.

We take the seven minute walk to the West End tram stop, where we leave the buses for a while and board the 1838 Edinburgh Trams* service to Saughton, arriving there at 1849 on Saturday evening.

* The trams are currently running a 15 minute daily service during this pandemic.

Folks - what is the situation with the clocks going forward this weekend? I can't remember whether we need to take that into consideration?

Anyway, for the time being, we still have other onward connections in the form of the 0051 East Coast Buses Nighthawk service N106 to Abbeyhill (Marionville Road), arriving there at 0121/0221 in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Normally, the hours of 0100 and 0200 are those which, outside of certain large cities, do not see much in the way of buses or trains (excluding the London Underground). Those hours above are those which fall into the overnight travel relaxation rule on this particular thread.

As the clocks have now moved on to the new time system and it being 0221 when we arrived, we next board the 0253 Lothian Buses service N26 to Seton Sands (the bus stop adjacent to Road End on the B1348) that arrives there at 0324 on Sunday morning.

Hmm - the N26 is off the road as from Sunday 29th according to Lothian Buses emergency timetable so I am not sure whether that last was a valid move. Would have to contact their helpline to find out and I am sure they have better things to do!

I suggest we carry on but take the rest of the night off and in the morning catch the 05:39 Lothian Buses service 26 to Edinburgh (Haymarket Station) where we arrive at 06:43 on Sunday morning

I think that being concerned with the clock change that I overlooked the matter of the emergency timetables, so it is best that I strike-through my last posting.

Perhaps yet another personal sabbatical away from this thread is called for, until the emergency timetable situation is resolved.

This would appear to be valid so I'll continue from here!

We wait briefly overnight for the 04:55 Lothian Buses service 26 to Haymarket Station, arriving at 05:13 Sunday morning.

(I'm using this which would appear to be the current timetable? https://www.lothianbuses.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/200329-Emergency-timetables-LB.pdf)

I believe that is correct. My mate is a bus driver for Lothian and he said the PVR has dropped from 820 to 120 buses. The 2 and the 4 have been withdrawn completely.

We are still too early for the first rail service, so we continue on the buses as we board the 0543 Lothian Buses service 3 to Cameron Toll (Junction of Liberton Road/Lady Road), arriving there at 0604 on Sunday morning.
