A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
Belated explanation

A day or so ago, the departure and subsequent arrival time of a train journey in a posting that I had made was queried by another contributor to this thread, who said it was a VAR timing.

In my defence, the information shown in my posting came not from one, but two sources, which agreed with each other:-
BR Times
National Rail Enquiries

Had there been different information regarding departure times in those two sources, I would not have made the posting in question.

BR Times does not show the full working timetable. Your best source for full working timetables are on the website of the TOC in question or on Real Time Trains on a day where there are no VAR/STP listings. Obviously I cannot say which site you should use and that is entirely your choice.

We wait for the 09:04 Hedingham service 135 to Bockings Elm (Brace of Pistols) where we arrive at 09:19 on Monday morning.

We then board the 1022 Hedingham service 74 to Colchester (Head Street), arriving there at 1115 on Monday morning.
