Not a lot happening here in the way of rail services, so we exit the station to the bus stop outside the post office on Gorton Road (which I'm questioning exists - perhaps a local player can enlighten me as it's been a long time since I was here), where we board the 1327 Stagecoach Manchester service 203 to Manchester (Piccadilly/Portland Street), arriving there at 1355 on Saturday afternoon.

We take the 8 minute, 0.3 mile walk to Piccadilly Station and join the 13:42 East Midlands Trains 1L11 service to Alfreton arriving there at 15:03 on Saturday.

We then get the 15:44 Northern service 1Y22 to Wakefield Kirkgate, arriving at 16:54 Saturday afternoon.

Next move involves a 3 minute walk to Kirkgate, Stop K5 where we board the 17:02 Arriva Yorkshire service 149 to Pontefract Bus Station arriving there at 17:40 on Saturday.

We then get the 18:00 Arriva in Yorkshire service 493 to Sherburn-in-Elmet (Mayfield), arriving at 18:41 Saturday evening.

I think we'll have to camp out overnight on the station platform and then resume bright and early on Sunday morning with the 06:39 2P21 Great Northern service to Finsbury Park arriving there at the quiet hour of 07:13 on Sunday morning.
