What is it with all these bloody Scottish towns finishing their daily services at like 6pm?!

We then have to call it a day, and the following morning we board the 0845 Shiel Buses service 507 to Ardnamurchan (High School), arriving there at 0845 on Friday morning.

Erm, there's no such town as Ardnamurchan! Ardnamurchan is the name given to the westernmost peninsula of the Scottish Mainland; Ardnamurchan High School is located in the town of Strontian, which gives its name to the element Strontium.

A rookie mistake

We spend some time exploring the area before walking to Strontian Bus Shelter and boarding the 14:40 Shiel Buses route 506 bus service to Kilchoan (Ferry Slipway), arriving there at 16:35 on Friday afternoon.

We now take the 16:45 Caledonian Macbrayne ferry to Tobermory Ferry Terminal, arriving at 17:20 Friday Afternoon

We then get the 14:45 Caledonian Macbrayne service CM14 to Tobermory, arriving at 17:20 Friday evening.

Staying at the Ferry terminal we take 1800 Caledonian Macbrayne ferry to Kilchoan where we arrive at 1835 on Friday evening.

We then break our journey overnight and board the 0756 Shiel Buses service 502 to Fort William (Bus Station), arriving there at 1022 on Saturday morning.

Exiting the station onto Princes Street, we then board the 0000 Lothian Buses service 25 to Restalrig (Sleigh Gardens), arriving there at 0018 in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Spending the night here, we then board the 06:50 Lothian busses service 34 from Restalrig Gardens (opp) to North Leith Ocean Terminal Stop OF, arriving there at 07:51 Sunday Morning.

We then board the 0820 Lothian Buses service 11 to Hyvots Bank (Terminus on Gilmerton Dykes Street), arriving there at 0910 on Sunday morning.

Walking down Ferniehill Drive (B701), we quickly arrive at Drum Street, where we take the 09:45 Lothian Buses service 29 from Gilmerton (after Ferniehill Rd), taking it all the way to Gorebridge Inn, arriving there at 10:10 Sunday Morning.

We then board the 1039 Lothian Buses service 33 to Baberton (Westburn Grove), arriving there at 1227 on Sunday afternoon.

Didn't realise how lengthy the 33 was!

It's one of those that goes into the city and out again, they all do that here in Sheffield, you can get them for well over an hour if you can stand it - very useful for me as a frequently use one of them to cross the city, takes ages but is at least fairly warm and comfortable!

We now walk down the road to Wester Hailes station, where there appears to be a permenant bustitution in place on Sundays. Seeing nothing but buses, we decide to lump it and board the 13:01 ScotRail (bus department!) service to Livingston South (where a change of buses seems to be required ), arriving at 13:40 Sunday Afternoon.

We then board the 1346 Abellio ScotRail Rail Replacement Bus service to Bellshill, arriving there at 1514 on Sunday afternoon.

We then walk to Bellshill, before Neilson Street, where we take the 16:03 First Glasgow service 201 to Hairmyres Station, arriving at 17:12 Sunday Afternoon.

We enter the station and board the 1730 Abellio ScotRail service 2J31 to Glasgow Central, arriving there at 1756 on Sunday afternoon.

Now we board the 19:00 Cross Country service to Newcastle Central, arriving at 21:48 Sunday Evening.

We then board the 2200 TransPennine Express service 1P46 to Leeds, arriving there at 2343 on Sunday evening.

Noting the ten minute minimum connection time that applies at this large station, we next board the 0001 Transpennine Express service to York that arrives at 0046 on Monday morning.

The following morning, we then finally head south, as we board the 0440 Virgin Trains East Coast service 1Y00 to London Kings Cross, arriving into the heart of the capital at 0657 on Monday morning.

Quickly becoming fed up of the capital, we walk next door and board the 07:24 East Midlands Trains service 1F08 to Sheffield, taking it as far as Chesterfield, where we arrive at 09:26 Monday morning.

Here we decide to change travel modes, so we leave the railway station and take the ten minute walk to bus stop B12 on New Beetwell Street where we board the 1005 Hulleys of Baslow service 170 to Old Brampton (Hemming Green) that arrives there at 1020 on Monday morning.

Stretching our legs, we walk back one stop (350m ish) to Old Brampton (opp St Peter and St Paul Church) and board the 11:20 Hulleys of Baslow service 170 to Bakewell Square (Stand C), arriving there at 11:50 Monday Morning (about time for lunch given we got up at 4:40!).

We take the three minute walk to Matlock Street and board the 1210 High Peak Transpeak service to Milford (the bus stop adjacent to the New Inn PH) that arrives at 1302 on Monday afternoon.

We finally get a well-deserved lunch at the New Inn, before catching the 13:26 Trent Barton service 6.2 (the sixes) to Ripley High Street (stop 2), arriving there at 14:01 Monday afternoon.

We walk 1 minute to Market Place (Ripley) where we jump on board the 14:20 Trent Barton "ninety" service towards Sutton in Ashfield but alight at Rail station (Sutton Parkway) at 15:09 Monday Afternoon.

Here, we board the 15:52 East Midlands Trains service 2W18 to Worksop, arriving there at 16:30 Monday afternoon.
