Welcome back to "The Transport Game."


Gameplay

The Aim of the game is to travel around the country using public transport in a pseudo-realistic fashion. To play, you must depart from the station or stop where the previous post arrived using a permitted timetabled public transport service. Having arrived at the destination, the minimum connection time for the station or stop must be allowed for. Where this is not published, a minimum interchange time is considered to be five minutes. In your post you should clearly state the time your service departs, the company who's service you are using and the time and day of arrival at your chosen destination.

Additional Notes

• So the game remains realistic, you should use the current timetable for the relevant day not including timetable variations for engineering works.

I was unaware that carte blanche now applies on this quiz with regard to not stating the "quiz day" in question at the end of a posting answer and demanding that contestants refer to previous postings to establish that particular matter. What if we all took that particular point of view....:roll:

Remember that weekday timetables can be different from Saturday timetables and Sunday timetables.

I think you don't mean literally! It is certainly required some of the time, like at weekends, and the rules consequently ask you to do it all the time, if you would please oblige.

It is very easy to make a day-of-the-week mistake so don't worry. A polite and gentle reminder from someone else will always sort this type of thing out quickly.

From High Littleton, we then board the 1531 First in Bristol, Bath and The West service 178 to Brislington (Flowers Hill), arriving there at 1612.

We next board the 1633 First in Bristol, Bath and the West service 36 to Barton Hill (Church Street) that arrives there at 1658 on Thursday afternoon.

Barton Hill isn't the nicest of places to be waiting for a bus, so we board the 1719 First in Bristol, Bath and The West service 36 to Filwood Park (Melvin Square), arriving there at 1802 on Thursday evening.

Changing to a different service, we then board the 1813 First in Bristol, Bath and the West service 90 to Hengrove (Hengrove depot on Roman Farm Road) that arrives there at 1828 on Thursday evening.

We change onto the 18:39 First Bristol, Bath and Beyond number 76 bus, riding it as far as Bristol, Cheltenham Road (Colston's School). We arrive at 19:26 on Thursday evening.

Having popped over to the Wellington for a swift pint of Barnsey we then amble back over to Horfield Common, Muller Rd Top (D) and take the 20:04 First in Bristol Bath & the West service 17 to Bristol Fishponds, Channons Hill (B) arriving at 20:17 on Thursday evening.

We just make it across the road in time for the 20:22 First Bristol service to Bristol Bus Station, arriving at 20:33 on Thursday evening.

Exiting the bus station and heading to The Haymarket, we then board the 2038 First in Bristol, Bath and The West service 70 to Filton (Eden Grove), arriving there at 2055 on Thursday evening.

Continuing the seemingly never-ending omnibus travelogue of Greater Bristol, we next board take the nine minute walk to the bus stop on Northville Road and board the 2145 First in Bristol, Bath and the West service 78 to Thornbury (Health Centre) that arrives there at 2226 on Thursday evening.

There is a returning service at 2230 but I think that falls short of the minimm connection time for changing modes. As a result, we are now stuck in Thornbury overnight, so we call it a day before boarding the 0555 First in Bristol, Bath and The West service 79 to Aztec West (Roundabout), arriving there at 0623 on Friday morning.

We next board the 0629 First in Bristol, Bath and the West service 73 to Bristol Parkway railway station that arrives there at 0657 on Friday morning.

We then take the 07:24 GWR service to Stapleton Road arriving at 07:33 Friday Morning

In the hope that a large railway station will offer a number of different onward services, we next board the 0752 GWR service to Bristol Temple Meads that arrives there at 0758 on Friday morning.

Finally having a change onto a different operator's service, we then board the 0857 Wessex Connect service 506 to Harbourside (Smeaton Road/CREATE Centre), arriving there at 0910 on Friday morning.

We walk the 0.2 miles to Nova Scotia landing, and partake in a passenger ferry service operated by Bristol Ferry Boat. It's a reasonably long wait until the 10:38 ferry, which is the first of the day in this winter timetable. We sail to the landing at Bristol City Centre, arriving at 10:55 on Friday morning.

Once again, we look to a large railway station for a means of an onwards escape from Greater Bristol, so we next board the 1137 First in Bristol, Bath and the West service 71 to Bristol Temple Meads railway station that arrives at the station approach there at 1209 on Friday afternoon.

Instead we take the 1234 GWR service up the Severn Beach Line to Sea Mills where we alight at 1252 Friday Afternoon.

The nearest bus stop from Sea Mills station is the bus stop on Roman Way, but it is only served by the 902 Park and Ride service which only really takes us back into the Centre of Bristol, which I think is a little boring. There is, alternatively, another bus stop on Shirehampton Road which is served by the number 4 bus but is 0.6 miles away which is too far for us to walk. Instead, we wsit at the station and board the 1334 Great Western Railway service 2K24 to Severn Beach, arriving there at 1352 on Friday afternoon.

Back onto the buses, it's time for Wessex Bristol's 625 bus service at 14:04. It takes us to Bristol Parkway Station, arriving at 14:46 on Friday afternoon.

We finally escape Bristol, courtesy of the 1509 XC service to Manchester Piccadilly. However, we alight at Wolverhampton, arriving into the Black Country at 1648 Friday evening.

We take the four minute walk to the bus stop on Portway Road and board the 1731 NXWM service 311 to Dudley bus station that arrives there at 1759 on Friday afternoon

We then board the 1805 National Express West Midlands service 246 to Brierley Hill (Five Ways), arriving there at 1825 on what I think is Friday evening (anything is possible with my reputation! )

We take the six minute walk to the bus stop on Gayfield Avenue and board the 1842 Hansons Bus service 287 to Stourbridge bus station that arrives there at 1900 on Friday evening.
