What I meant to say is this:
Why would we be allowed to go over to Isle of Wight from Lymington, and not from Portsmouth? I doubt the QM's have a huge hatred for that ferry, and solely excluded that from possible services.

I'm not saying I wouldn't want to pay there a visit, but I just fret it'll have to wait for the other version. Where you can choose: USA or IOW.

A reminder to everyone that if you wish to propose an amendment to the rules or change the scope of a game/quiz the appropriate way of doing this is via a PM to the Quizmasters.

Discussion on a quiz/game thread about the rules of a game is liable to be deleted for being off topic.

Any change that is agreed by the QMs will be clearly announced by them at the time that such a change takes effect.

This posting was very recently made on this particular quiz by one of the forum moderators.

In view of the comments made in this posting, all I can suggest is that a PM is sent to any of the three forum quizmasters in order to resolve this particular bone of contention.

I will not be the one who sends it as I am not involved in this particular discussion.

A quick diversion regarding the IoW. I've done a bit of searching, and come up with the following posts relating to diversions to the IoW.

Correct me if I am wrong, I believe this to be the first visit of the game to the IoW, as in the previous incarnation of the game, we were not allowed to cross The Solent?

A short walk to Shanklin Bus Station means we can pick up the 0627 Go-Ahead Southern Vectis service 2 to Newport (Isle of Wight) Bus Station, arriving there at 0656 this Monday morning.

As an aside, I've stayed at the only Travelodge on the island, a short walk from here

This precedes quite an extensive tour of the island undertaken in April of last year.

Just as a matter of interest, I am sure that we are safe in using all ferry services to any offshore island, as a precedent has already been set by one of the Forum Quizmaster team when he himself made a posting that involved a ferry crossing across the Solent to the Isle of Wight.

However, let us keep this within reason and only use British islands, so no trips across to the Faroe Islands. I am just hoping above hope that no-one finds some strange non-advertised ferry service to St Kilda in Mad Angus's rowing boat.

The playing area includes only mainland Great Britain. This includes any landmass connected to Great Britain by bridge or tunnel (excluding the Channel Tunnel).

The Senior members of the quiz forum team are apparently quite open to domestic ferries. I would argue that it seems reasonable, particularly since we have been to the Isle of Wight before, to allow domestic ferry travel. I wonder if it would therefore be worth discussing a redraft of the rules to this extent to allow moves such as the proposed trip to the Isle of Wight - a clear boundary would, of course, need to be drawn - I would exclude Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and the Crown Dependencies.

Having said all that the proposed International version which I trust is in development (hint hint hint ) would obviously cover all this anyway.

That's my two cents on the matter - I'll leave this in the hands of the mods.
