Then at 20:25, we head back towards the City Centre on the Stagecoach Sheffield 83 service, which deposits us at the "mini-interchange" on Arundel Gate at 20:51 on Sunday evening.

We step out to Ochre Dike Lane to find there's still a frequent bus service at this time in the evening, the 120, which is shared between two Scottish bus operators. The first service pulling up, at 22:01, is operated by Stagecoach Yorkshire. We take it as far as Royal Hallamshire Hospital (Glossop Road), alighting at 22:41 on Sunday evening.

We then board the 2256 First South Yorkshire service 120 to Fulwood (Barncliffe Road), arriving there at 2309 on Sunday evening.

No other buses in town out here at this hour yet again, so back onto the 120. Having sampled the delights of both operators, we decide to go back to Stagecoach South Yorkshire for our next journey, which leaves at 23:27. We ride it back to the City Centre, alighting at Sheffield Interchange at 23:59 on Sunday evening.

With no options for onward travel at this time of night, we are lucky Sheffield railway station is open 24 hours, so we can wait for the next train departure, the 0325 First Transpennine Express, arriving in Manchester Piccadilly at 0416 Monday morning.

Back in Manchester again! Yeah!!! :D

Hmm... that won't do, we need to go somewhere much nicer.

We escape on 1S30, the 05:00 First Transpennine Express service to Glasgow, and take the train as far as Sunny Motherwell, alighting there at 07:59 on Monday morning.

Remember guys, the Winchburgh Engineering Works are ongoing. Whilst we don't normally allow for engineering works - does this 6 week closure count?

In the meantime, so as to avoid any confusion surrounding engineering works, we decide to make our way towards the West again on the 12:46 First Scotrail service 2M21 to Milngavie. We alight at Airdrie at 13:20 on Monday afternoon.

(Any reason you didn't board the 13:26 Balloch run, or for that matter the 13:41 Helensburgh run that also calls at Shettleson?)

It's time to sample the delights of the East End's bus network. We don our stab vests and at 14:39 we board the First Glasgow 46 service towards Castlemilk, and alight at Castlemilk Shopping Centre at 15:29 on Monday afternoon.

We change to the 1543 First Glasgow service 34 to Govan. We take this to Crossmyloof, before Shawmoss Rd on Titwood Rd, where we arrive at 1605 on Monday afternoon.

That leaves us conveniently outside the rail station. We pop into Morrisons for supplies before boarding the 16:24 Scotrail service 2J16 to East Kilbride, where we arrive at 16:51 on Monday afternoon.

We decide to head for the bus station, but can't be bothered walking all the way.

We therefore go to the nearby bus stop located at West Mains, opp Torrance Rd on Kirktonholme Rd. Here, we board the 1704 First Glasgow service 31 to East Kilbride Bus Station, arriving 1707 on Monday afternoon.

How lazy ;) - I'm actually surprised that that comes in at 0.6 miles - it's perfectly walkable in practice!

Anyway, we switch to a local bus operator, Whitelaw's Coaches, and catch their 17:21 number 254 bus service to Stonehouse. We alight at Larkhall Union Street (after Montgomery Street) at 18:00 on Monday evening.

Because I'm a twonk!

The railway station is just opposite. We enter it and board 2L03, the 1833 ScotRail service to Glasgow Central, arriving there at 1906 on Monday evening.

Heading to Ayrshire now, we make our way to Platform 13 to board Scotrail's 19:30 service to Ayr, 1K57, which arrives there at 20:21 on Monday evening.

We then get on an airport bus, the McGill's 757, which arrives at 22:07. But don't get too excited DasLunatic, we stay on past the airport and ride it to its terminus at Clydebank Bus Station, where it arrives at 23:08 on Monday evening.

We aren't able to catch the train back to Garscadden, which would be the last of the day from the station. Although, perhaps a night in Garscadden isn't the best idea anyway!

With the public tranport network pretty much shutting down at Midnight, and no night buses until the weekend, we don't have many options. However, we do find that we can catch the last bus of the day from Union Street at Central Station, which is a First Glasgow 4 service bound for Newton Mearns (Harvie Avenue), arriving at 00:26. We ride it to its terminus, where we arrive at 01:12 on Tuesday morning.

It's annoying as there's a 322 service to Govanhill which departs at 0113, which I'm assuming is what that last number 4 bus will turn into at Newton Mearns. We obviously cannot take it though, as we, unless otherwise stated, allow a minimum connection of five minutes at locations.

Instead, we call it a night before boarding the 0629 First Glasgow service 38 to Central Station (Hope Street), arriving there at 0709 on Tuesday morning.

We heed the fifteen minute connection time and blearily stumble towards Platform 2 and board the 0737 Virgin Trains service from here all the way to London Euston. We arrive at 1213 Tuesday afternoon.

We grab some breakfast, and the board the 07:39 Scotrail service 2G89 to Gourock, which we take as far as Greenock Central, arriving at 08:22 on Tuesday morning.

Beaten :(

Another 15 minute connection time at this station, so we use the time to grab lunch. We decide to head back North, so at 12:46 we board the London Midland service 1U35 bound for Crewe, which we take as far as Nuneaton, arriving at 13:53 on Tuesday afternoon.

Exiting the station and taking the short walk across Leicester Road to the bus station, we then board the 1419 Stagecoach Warwickshire service 55 to Coventry (Sainsbury's on Trinity Street, next to Whittle Arch), arriving there at 1529 on Tuesday afternoon.

However, we are spooked by what looks like a zombie apocalypse, so we cross platforms and board the 1436 LM service back to London Euston, arriving at 1550 Tuesday afternoon.

We decide to go abroad (depending on the next poster's move) and board the 1540 NXWM 900 service towards Birmingham. However, this being me and me wanting to take to the skies, we alight at Birmingham International Airport (Bus Terminal) at 1615 Tuesday afternoon.

Hopefully we're not too late to check in on a flight to the States!

Unfortunately, we still don't have permission to leave the country yet, so we must make do with the 1649 National Express West Midlands service 966 to Erdington (Six Ways), arriving there at 1744 on Tuesday afternoon.
