Gameplay

The Aim of the game is to travel around the country using public transport in a pseudo-realistic fashion. To play, you must depart from the station or stop where the previous post arrived using a permitted timetabled public transport service. Having arrived at the destination, the minimum connection time for the station or stop must be allowed for. Where this is not published, a minimum interchange time is considered to be five minutes.

In your post you should clearly state the time your service departs, the company who's service you are using and the time and day of arrival at your chosen destination.

This might be an opportune time to show the extract above from the rules of the quiz shown on the very first posting of this quiz, especially for the guidance of new contestants.

It is interesting to note on this timetable which is valid this year as stated on its heading, that both locations are shown on that timetable. One location is shown when travelling in one direction and the other location is shown when travelling in the other direction.

Whereas the Stagecoach timetable says it calls at Smithy's Tea Rooms again (in fact, it actually lists the Village Shop but doesn't have any services calling!)

Furthermore, I can't find both of these stops on Google Maps, so I can't tell how far apart they are! On weekdays as well there is only one bus a day, compared with three on a Saturday.

Anyway, let's play it safe and call it a night, where we have a day to explore before boarding the same bus 24 hours later, which is the 1900 Stagecoach in Cumbria and North Lancashire service 73A to Carlisle (Bus Station), arriving there at 1932 on Tuesday evening.

• You should use the first available service to reach your destination after allowing for the minimum interchange time.
• You shouldn't wait for more than two hours after the first available service (to any destination) has left, after allowing for the minimum interchange time.
• You may walk up to about half a mile when changing modes to a stop in the vicinity, if you wish

The extract above from the rules of this quiz is quite clear in its wording.

But the X4/X5 isn't the only service. There's a 104 to the Centre Parc and/or back to Carlisle. And at least one train though the half mile is a bit dubious
