Well that was a disappointment....returning by rail to the settlement that is oft-decried on this particular quiz, after being sent somewhere very nice that has no less than six bus stops outside Clitheroe station...you could have even took at bus to Cow Ark....
Hiding our disappointment manfully, we negotiate our way out of the building site that purports to be Manchester Victoria station and walk past Manchester Cathedral to the bus stop at the top end of Deansgate where we board the 1107 Transdev Burnley and Pendle "Lancashire Witch" service X43 to Crawshawbooth (The Black Dog PH on Burnley Road) that arrives there at 1156 on Monday morning.
Always remember to end your postings with the "running quiz day" that follows on from other postings.
The quiz day in question for the end of your posting is... "on Monday afternoon" --- old post above --- --- new post below --- *********************************************************************************************************
We are now afforded an opportunity to take a bus ride that will return us to that most delightful of settlements from which we were earlier so cruelly taken from by rail, so we board the 1342 Burnley and Pendle service 27 to Clitheroe Interchange that arrives there at 1442 on Monday afternoon.
The reason I took us back to Manchester is because I didn't want us to be stuck in the dark cloud that is Lancashire! Connections would have been available to head down south.
Anyway, heading eastwards, we then board the 1456 Lancashire United service X80 to Skipton (Belle Vue Mills), arriving there at 1526 on Monday afternoon.
We leave the railway station and make the short walk to the bus stop on Robin Lane Bottom where we board the 1907 Stagecoach in Lancaster service 80 to Lancaster bus station that arrives there at 1952 on Monday evening.
Whilst not at the same time, an opportunity to recreate a bus ride from our holidays based in Porthcawl last year.
Leaving the railway station, we make the 5 minute walk to the bus stop at Ael-y-Bryn/Fford-y-Eglwys where we board the 0825 First in South and West Wales service 63 to Pothcawl (John Street) that arrives there at 0843 on Tuesday morning.
After just half an hour at the seaside, we board the X2 at Porthcawl John Street at 0915 and arrive at Cardiff Central station at 1047 on Tuesday morning.
Walking around the corner to Westgate Street, we then board the 1056 Cardiff Bus service 17 to Caerau (Cyntwell Avenue), arriving there at 1125 on Tuesday morning.
Moving away from the capital now, we then cross the road (where safe to do so - absolute bugger of a road!) before boarding the 1525 Stagecoach South Wales service X3 to Cwmbran (Bus Station), arriving there at 1610 on Tuesday afternoon.
Let's take a change. We then grab a coffee and board 1O30, the 2004 CrossCountry service to Southampton Central, arriving there at 2242 on Tuesday evening.
