Unluckily the xx12 and xx13 buses were on time and we missed them so caught the 305 McGills bus service at 1613 heading towards Luss and got there a quarter of an hour later which put us at Luss, near Loch Lomond Golf Course at 16.28 Saturday afternoon and we crossed the road to consult the bus timetable only to find it missing.

Regretting not having got the 305 to Helensburgh (where there is a shop selling delicious Ice cream) we walked instead to the station and catch ScotRail's 17.25 to Aidrie getting off at Charing Cross at 18.09 Saturday Afternoon for the West End where there is a Chippy selling Deep Fried Mars Bars

That leaves plenty of time to walk the half mile to Shettleston station, calling in at Tescos on the way for some fruit juice, before catching the ScotRail train from Helensburgh towards Edinburgh at 2212 alighting at Aidrie station at 2228 Saturday night .

Dragging our weary body over the concourse we are in time to catch ScotRails 2351 departure for Bathgate which takes us to Edinburgh Park arriving 2359 Saturday evening for a well earned rest in the nearby Novotel Hotel on Lochside Avenue

No need to check into a hotel as there are still services available, so we board 2H18, the 0003 ScotRail service to Haymarket, arriving there at 0009 in the early hours of Sunday morning.

You are a glutton for travelling but I thought I had put this train out of reach because of this rule:(

Having arrived at the destination, the minimum connection time for the station or stop must be allowed for. Where this is not published, a minimum interchange time is considered to be five minutes.
:)

It comes down to the community to point out any rule breaches, however this shouldn't hold up game play and it may not be necessary to return to the previous post, especially where there has been more than five moves (or 24 hours has elapsed) since the posting in question

TP

I think that this posting (the second on the thread) by one of the forum quizmasters should be borne in mind over this current matter.

From nearby Chew Valley Road, opposite the Clarence Hotel, we then board the 1455 First Manchester service 350 to Ashton-under-Lyne (Bus Station), arriving there at 1526 on Sunday afternoon.

When did First TPE begin stopping at Greenfield ? Every time I have been on cross-Pennine services, we normally pass through Greenfield at speed, like we do at Mossley.

I did think the same and had a look on Real Tiime Trains to see who operated this service and it is in fact operated by Northern, but I didn't bother to question it as the timings were still correct, so it didn't have any consequences on game play.....

A Sunday afternoon run-out to one of the Pennine villages sees us board the 1535 First Pioneer service 350 to Delph (The Swan PH on King Street) that arrives there at 1618 on Sunday afternoon.

I've only just noticed this matter. Apologies.

To be fair though, however, we could have just taken 2H20, which is the 0034 Edinburgh Park to Haymarket, arriving at 0039. We then could have continued on 1R14, which is the 0049 Haymarket to Edinburgh, arriving at 0053.

In this case it wouldn't have made a difference as we didn't leave Edinburgh until 9am the following morning, yet the minimum connection times have been taken into account now. However I did forget about the minimum connection time at Edinburgh Park, so apologies for that!

I haven't even heard of Delph before, but we then continue on board the 1722 First Pioneer (which I'm assuming is some kind of branch of First Manchester?) service 350 to Oldham Mumps Interchange, arriving there at 1739 on Sunday afternoon.

I haven't even heard of Delph before.

The four iconic closely-grouped Pennine villages (the four "D") are Delph, Diggle, Dobcross and Denshaw.

May I suggest that you expand your railway knowledge by Googling "Delph Donkey" to see where this iconic line went to. That line has been used a number of times on the "Closed Stations Journey" quiz.

Sorry, I did mean Northern Rail.

We move to the platforms of the Manchester Metrolink there and board the 1756 Manchester Metrolink service to Didsbury Village Metrolink stop
that arrives there at 1855 on Sunday evening.

I've heard of the other three but not Delph!

that arrives there at 1855 on Sunday evening.

We then switch to another operator now and board the 1926 Stagecoach Manchester service 23 to Davyhulme (Nags Head), arriving there at 1954 on Sunday evening.

I am uncertain I know where I am:( but see a First bus No 22 heading towards me so I board it at 2011 and, although the bus was heading to Bolton, alight at 2014 Sunday evening at the Trafford Centre (Trafford Boulevard/Old Barton Road intersection)

We then wait for a returning Arriva North West service 18 at 2206 which we catch and alight at Manchester Airport The Station at 2218 on Sunday evening.
