The station is well under half a mile, so we make our way there and take the 0614 Scotrail service to Inverness, arriving 0836 Thursday morning

Edit - I think it's Wednesday

Next morning we brave D&E coaches again on the 0850 departure - this time to Ullapool Ferry terminal arriving at 1023 on whatever morning it is. I'm convinced it's Thursday but there seem to be several opinions

Apologies for the mix up of days, that was my fault on the First Aberdeen 17 bus.

If we're going to be stuck in the middle of nowhere, then let's really isolate ourselves from the rest of the world. We board the 1045 Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry to Stornoway (Ferry Terminal), arriving there at 1330 on Thursday afternoon (is it now?)

May I use this as an example of how important it is that the day sequence is adhered to correctly.

The posting prior to this ended at Scatterburn at 2344 on Tuesday, so unless a whole day was spent in sleep, the service shown above would have arrived at 0530 on Wednesday morning.

Just as a matter of interest, I am sure that we are safe in using all ferry services to any offshore island, as a precedent has already been set by one of the Forum Quizmaster team when he himself made a posting that involved a ferry crossing across the Solent to the Isle of Wight.

However, let us keep this within reason and only use British islands, so no trips across to the Faroe Islands. I am just hoping above hope that no-one finds some strange non-advertised ferry service to St Kilda in Mad Angus's rowing boat.

Such is the paucity of the bus services that we have to book in at a hostelry and have time to explore in the evening. After a hearty breakfast and a light lunch, we continue our travelogue by boarding the 1236 MacLennon service W2 to Achmore village that arrives there on Friday afternoon
