Taking the short 3 minutes walk to the bus stop on Minster Street, we then board the 1550 Reading Buses...Yellow Bus 26 to Calcot (Pincents Lane near the Sainsbury store) that arrives there at 1621 on Friday afternoon.

Pincents Lane is a pretty sizeable street to be fair. Where exactly does the 26 stop? Is it by the Sainsbury's? It's quite hard to plan my next move as I don't know where on Pincents Lane we are and I am trying to take into account the 0.5 mile walking distance. Some clarification would be appreciated.

I have absolutely no idea as to whether this is the same as Bedwyn railway station. as I've done a search online and I cannot seem to find a Great Bedwyn railway station. I thought it may have been on a heritage railway and also one would have thought a site would have listed/recognised the former.

Going on the basis that is indeed Bedwyn railway station, we then board 1K84, the 1954 First Great Western service to London Paddington, arriving there at 2106 on Friday evening.

Indeed it does, and I noticed this, however I can't find an existing Great Bedwyn station.

Noting the 15 minute connection time at London Paddington, we board the 2145 FGW service to Exeter St David's that arrives there at 0107 on Saturday morning.

Taking note of the time, we then let the hours go by before boarding the 0635 Stagecoach in Devon service H to Wonford (Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital), arriving there at 0657 on Saturday morning.

We then walk to the jet garage and board the 1024 Stagecoach in Devon service 88 to Totnes (Railway Station), arriving there at 1040 on Saturday morning.

We ponder walking down to the quay for the 1130 ferry to Dartmouth but that would be stretching the half mile rule a bit (It's about a mile). Now if only we hadn't gotten off that bus that early....

So we make our way to Littlehempston (under 500 yards) and take the 1130 steam departure on the South Devon Railway back to Buckfastleigh, arriving at 1200 Saturday noon

Following our lovely little trip on the South Devon Railway, we then board the 1210 Stagecoach in Devon service 88 to Newton Abbot (Sherborne Road Stop D), arriving there at 1241 on Saturday afternoon.

We decide to continue being a tourist and take Countrybus service 271 at 1345 and travel to Widecombe in the Moor car park where we arrive at 1426 Saturday afternoon

Noting the 5 minute minimum connection time, it is with some relief that there is a 5 minute layover at this terminus which allows us to take the 1431 Country Bus service 271 to Bovey Tracy (Town Hall) that arrives there at 1502 on Saturday afternoon.

We then continue on the 1508 Stagecoach in Devon service 39 to Exeter (Bus Station), arriving there at 1551 on Saturday afternoon.

We now decide to see some of east Devon and board the 1625 Stagecoach South West service 52A to Trow (King's Down Tail) that arrives there at 1738 on Saturday afternoon.

We have a look at the Tramway terminal buildings, but the last tram of the day has gone, so we make our way to the bus stop on Marine Parade and board the 1930 First in Dorset and South Somerset service X53 to Goosemoor (Moorcroft) that arrives there at 1959 on Saturday evening.

Continuing our omnibus travelogue of East Devon (which our family did countless times in real life in our early days of married life in the mid 1970's), we take the short walk from the tramway terminus to the bus stop on Marine Parade where we board the 1327 First in Dorset and South Somerset service X53 to Clyst St Mary (Westpoint) that arrives there at 1411 on Sunday afternoon.

Just to think that only 10 years before that time in real life, you could have travelled on the branch line of the Budleigh Salterton Railway from Sidmouth Junction all the way through to Exmouth....:cry:
