We're in a bit of a sticky situation here at Ashchurch for Tewkesbury. There's a 42 bus to Cheltenham that departs at 1926, yet our train only arrived at 19223, and the rules do say that we need to allow at least a five minute connection time where it is not stated, so that marks that bus out. It is also the last bus of the day.

It isn't the last bus of the day - the 41 is the main service at Ashchurch and runs until late evening. The 42 doesn't normally go to Ashchurch at all except at 'peak' hours

But that's in the past - best stick where we've got to - Reading

We take the 2323 FGW service to Swansea, arriving 0237 Tuesday morning

Ah I didn't zoom out of the map far enough, I didn't see there was a stop called Railway Station Turn which is served by the 41. Oh well!

From Swansea, we then board the 0352 First Great Western service 1L05 to my home town of Cardiff Central, arriving there at 0501 on Wednesday morning.

Rules
  • You shouldn't wait for more than two hours after the first available service (to any destination) has left, after allowing for the minimum interchange time.

There was a recently made posting that made reference a what appears to have been an opportunity to use a train that had slightly more than a two hour waiting time period, when no alternative bus services were available and the said train was the first available one to take.

This should NOT be confused with the two hours time period in the particular rule that I have shown above, which makes reference to a two hour time period AFTER the first available service.

That was different Paul, as there were train services available within two hours, only just to the same destination.

Anyway, from Ebbw Vale, we then board the 0835 Stagecoach in South Wales service 22 to Cwmbran, arriving there at 0935 on Wednesday morning.

Every single person I know on this forum always goes on the Stourbridge Town shuttle once we arrive off a bus in Stourbridge

We then exit the station and board the 1441 National Express West Midlands service 276 to Lye (Lye Cross), arriving there at 1504 on Wednesday afternoon.

This journey feels very familiar, I think we've done almost this exact journey not too long ago!

We stay on the buses to head towards Birmingham, catching the 15:14 NXWM 9 service to Halesowen Bus Station, arriving there at 15:32 on Wednesday afternoon.

We probably have to be fair. This game always ends up in Manchester, London or Birmingham haha

The 9 is operated by brand new Enviro 400MMCs which we are very impressed with, as seen here. So we stay on the 9 and board the 1541 NXWM service 9 to Birmingham (Brindley Place), arriving there at 1614 on Wednesday afternoon.
