We alight from the train, but remembering the doctor's advice of walking no more than half a mile in one go, we walk to the New Look in Weymouth to buy summer clothes for our trip to the Channel Islands. The walk takes nine minutes, so we arrive at 1115 on Thursday morning.

We decide on a trip to the Channel Islands, but seeing how the ferry terminal is 0.7 miles away, we have to go to the nearest bus stop (Weymouth Bus Garage) and await the 1115 First in Wessex and Dorset 501 bus to take it one stop to Weymouth, Kings Statue, arriving at 1116 Thursday morning.

A walk is not included as a transport mode. You can walk up to half a mile in order to catch a service, but you cannot include just a walk as a transport mode.

I will add to this that the forum quizmasters ONLY gave their approval for the Isle of Wight to be used on this quiz and the rule that a FIXED LINK to the UK Mainland still so applies. NO OTHER OFFSHORE ISLAND CAN BE USED AS A DESTINATION.

Between us, we may have helped to resolve this last impasse.

A visit to a notable landmark now affords itself, so we board the 1136 First in Wessex and Dorset service 501 to Portland Bill (Lighthouse) that arrives there at 1230 on Thursday afternoon.

The very impressive number 1 bus in the area runs every 6-7 minutes (24 hours on Fridays!), so we do not have long to wait before we board the 1404 First in Wessex and Dorset service 1 to Weymouth (King's Statue), arriving there at 1432 on Thursday afternoon.

We then board the 1925 Morebus service 50 to Bournemouth (Railway Station), arriving there at 2025 on Thursday evening.

I believe this service involves the use of the Sandbanks Ferry.

Quite right, I am hoping to one day use one of my SWT free tickets to Bournemouth, then buy a Network ticket for Morebus to do the 50 to Swanage, a round trip on the Swanage Railway, 40 to Poole, M1/2 to Bournemouth then X1/X2 to Lymington to cover that branch and head home.

Anyway back to the game, after just 6 minutes, we board the 2031 Morebus service 13 to Colehill, Post Office, arriving at 2106 on Thursday evening.

We're still able to find a service in Poole, so we board the 0300 NatEx 205 coach to Heathrow Airport (Terminal 5), arriving at 0515 Friday morning.

How about a trip on the ulTRA PRT?

I have now read up on Heathrow PODs to the business car park but cannot find a timetable, although according to the Heathrow website they run all 24 hours and a POD arrives with 10 secs of pressing the call button.

Anyway, back to the game, we descend to the Heathrow Express platforms and catch the Heathrow Express service departing at 0542 and ride to the buffer stops at London Paddington where we arrive at 0603 on Friday morning.

Being ever mindful of the 15 minute minimum connection time that so applies at this large station, we are fortunate indeed in being able to board the fast, rather than the slow, train to our destination, so we board the 0620 FGW service to Oxford that arrives there at 0722 on Friday morning.
