Hence why I strategically deposited us within walking distance of Birchington station however, in your defence, I would have expected more road transport even for a Sunday.

Quite possibly! Although I think it was mainly because it was the only service still operating at the time.

At this stop on Sandpiper Road, only the 5 serves here which limits our options a bit, so let's take the eleven minute/0.5 mile walk to just within our boundary to Borstel Hill and board another circular service, as we board the 1125 Stagecoach South East Triangle service to Swalecliffe (The Wheatsheaf), arriving there at 1143 on Sunday morning.
