Well there aren't any more trains running but we are grateful that buses are still operating, so we exit the station and take the five minute walk to the bus stop on Exeter Road, where we board the 2254 Stagecoach South West service 2 to Exeter (Bus Station), arriving there at 2335 on Saturday evening.

Okay.... So we're going to have to spend the night at Crediton and the station is more than 0.5 miles from where the bus has dropped us so we can't walk there.

And as it's now going to be Sunday morning, the only bus option will be the Stagecoach 5 (no other routes on Sunday) so we'll head back to Exeter at 0910 on Sunday morning, arriving at Exeter bus station at 0939.

To prevent a follow-on journey on the A we walk for 10 mins (0.5 mile) to the Alphinbrook Rd stop where at 1113 we board Stagecoach South West service B. This takes us to Whipton Shops, where we arrive at 1140 on Sunday.

EDIT: Arrival time corrected, before anyone noticed :)

We'll wait until 1411 and take the Stagecoach SW service 2 heading to Newton Abbott arriving at Newton Abbott Sherborne Road 1545, Sunday afternoon.

Being a pedantic exiled Devonian, it is Abbot, not Abbott 8-)

Anyway, we leave from stop F at 1610 on Stagecoach South West service Hop 2 . We decide to alight at Teignmouth (WH Smith, stop B) at 1642 on Sunday.

I was considering taking advantage of the overnight relaxation rule here, as I thought if we carry on to Swansea there may not be anything from there this late on a Sunday but alas the University buses run all night, so we continue as we board the 2320 Transport for Wales service 1V26 to Swansea, arriving there at 2359 on Sunday evening.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
This arrival time offers both the opportunity of taking advantage of the overnight travel relaxation rules and the opportunity to ride on a very long rail replacement bus service, so we next board the 0444 Transport for Wales Rail Replacement Bus Service to Llanwrtyd that arrives there at 0730 on Monday morning.

There is no rail replacement bus service on the Heart of Wales Line at the moment.

There is a 0447 from Carmarthen to Llandovery, or there is a 0547 from Swansea to Shrewsbury (which arrives at Llanwrtyd at 0734), but even then there services from as early as 3.45am from Swansea.

This is from the Transport for Wales timetable online.

I obtained my information from the RTT rail website that is best known and trusted using the date of the Monday quiz day of the week and was somewhat taken aback that the rail replacement bus service only went as far as Llanwrtyd in its timetabling.

Yes, that's only for this week.

From next Monday, that service departs at 0547.

I began to use the RTT website under advice from fellow contributors some time ago as I was informed that it was far better than the BR Times website that I once relied upon and to be fair, this is the first time since using the RTT website that a "rail" posting I have made has been queried.

Continuing on from Llanwrtyd (whether we arrive by bus or train), our next move is to take the 09:06 bus 48 operated by Celtic Travel which we will take to Builth Wells, at Groe, arriving at 09:31 on a Monday Morning

If its during the week we're on now then yes, if not I don't think so.

We next board the 1150 Stagecoach South Wales TrawsCymru service T14 to Hereford (Old Market), arriving there at 1246 on Monday afternoon.

Well that's it in terms of buses, but we are grateful to be within five minutes of the railway station and, fancying a desire to head away from Mid-Wales to a more urban area, board the 1834 Transport for Wales service 1I28 to Birmingham International, arriving there at 2052 on Monday evening.
