We are afforded a welcome opportunity here to escape the North, as we take the eight minute walk to the railway station and board the 1639 Avanti West Coast service 1M15 to London Euston, arriving there at 1912 on Wednesday evening.

Of all the places we could have gone....we end up back in Lancashire/Cumbria....

Unsurprisingly stuck here for the remainder of the day, we return in the morning for the 0559 Avanti West Coast service 1R22 to London Euston, arriving there at 0914 on Thursday morning.

The reason that I chose Penrith is that there are quite a number of bus services that are accessible from the railway station and Penrith is a very long way from the Merseyside area we have been frequenting of late.....remember my very short recent bus ride on the Wirral?
Ah, unfortunately there wasn't any remaining bus services that late into the evening, and it was too early to take advantage of the overnight relaxation rule.

Not to worry!

You'd think the buses would connect with the train!

There are no more buses here, so we next board the 2219 ScotRail service 2T69 to Gorebridge, arriving there at 2248 on Thursday evening.

Been through quite a few Southern-area settlements with fourteen hour mornings in the past on this quiz....:p

We next board the 2116 East Coast Buses service X7 to Dunbar (the bus stop near the Post Office on High Street) that arrives there at 2211 on Friday evening.

I was so confused for a minute....then realised it's a Friday-only service!

We stop off for the night and return in the morning for the 0638 London North Eastern Railway service 1Y14 to York, arriving there at 0758 on Saturday morning.
