Time for a pint... and suitably refreshed we return to the bus stop stop in time to catch the 2052 Western Greyhound 597 service to St Austell White River Cinema on Trinity Street where we arrive at 2125 on Saturday evening.

Taking the 0.4 mile walk to the railway station, we then board 2C80, the 2220 CrossCountry service to Plymouth, arriving there at 2325 on Saturday evening.

This train must be one of only a very few number of XC services with a 2xxx headcode.

We leave the station and at the bus stop there, we next board the 1211 First in Wessex, Dorset and South Somerset service X31 to Lyme Regis (Woodroffe School) that arrives there at 1231 on Sunday afternoon.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
We then take the 1145 SWT service to Yeovil Junction arriving at 1219 on Sunday afternoon.

Despairing of the paucity of Sunday bus services in certain areas, we reluctantly board the 1245 FGW service to Redruth that arrives there at 1613 on Sunday afternoon.

We liked what we saw down at Redruth so head back down that way when we board -

2C49 FGW 2006 service to its end at Penzance arriving at 1936 on Sunday evening

We then walk to the Bus Station just outside, and take the First Devon & Cornwall service 6 departing at 2010 and alight at Mousehole Harbour at 2029 on Sunday evening.

I am confused somewhat by your posting...what was the actual departure time of that train service, as it appears that you show a 2006 departure arriving at 1936.

--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
There are no train services to Looe but there is a Sundays only Plymouth Citybus service 573 which departs from Liskeard Railway Station at 1827 and arrives at West Looe, The Square at 1852 on Sunday evening where we alight.

The posting by Bodie was made prior to yours.

I noted the new posting just after I posted my journey, so then edited it to take us to Mousehole.

I did see the apparent time travel in the previous post but took it as a typo as 2C49 actually departed at 1805 and arrived at 1936 making it a valid, if confusing journey.

I think we are therefore all OK now and are at Mousehole Harbour where we arrived at 2029 on Sunday evening.

Wait a moment, since when has there been a direct service from Yeovil to Redruth?

And surely this is only temporary?

Hmm..

Looks like the posting today where we left Plymouth at 0840 for Honiton was also an engineering diversion for this Sunday (22/2/15) and the later return journey likewise. I dont recall a through service Plymouth - Honiton normally and the usual Sunday route is via Taunton.

Reading the rules on page 1 should these journeys have been made on the standard timetable?

If so, then the entire day is wrong.

I used National Rail Enquiries for the information in order to to make this posting. Try this for yourself and on this coming Sunday, which is the quiz day in question, there are a good number of such direct journeys. It you look at the posting in the same section that I had to delete, I had found a perfectly good bus Sunday service to an interesting location.

Howsoever, if this helps matters, I have now struck through the posting that I have made from the Yeovil area to Redruth

Well, I have struck-through my posting, so will others please do the same as far back as the journeys starting with the 0840 departure to Plymouth on Sunday morning.

The issue is that this is engineering works, as there are never usually direct services with FGW via Yeovil.

It may be worth checking the engineering works. I did the exact same thing with the Wilmslow TPE services the other day!

I have struck through my moves today once I had found the html codes.

Do we have to wait for Fishquinn to sort out his 0840 move before we can carry on?

I have already sent him a PM last evening in order to make him aware of the matters in hand. I have also sent a PM to Bodie

The difference in that situation, which was your posting # 3243 on 30th January of Wilmslow was somewhat of a situation that was certainly most unusual with regards to the reason why that service terminated at Wilmslow rather than Manchester Airport, is that no-one could find a specific terminology to cover the reasons why Manchester Airport was closed for the three-week period, so the senior contestant dzug2 adjudicated that the quiz should move onwards and to allow the posting that had been made by you.

In this case, it appears that we are not offering the same courtesy to fishquinn

Looking at things again we can resolve some of the problems of yesterday by changing at Exeter instead of Honiton so we get:

Fishquinn 0840 Plymouth - Padd to Exeter SD arrive 0947
bnsf734 change to 1025 Exeter SD - Axminster arrive Axminster 1106
Fishquinn depart Axminster 1145 arrive Yeovil Junction 1219

This would make the journey as far as Yeovil Junction valid.

It comes down to the community to point out any rule breaches, however this shouldn't hold up game play and it may not be necessary to return to the previous post, especially where there has been more than five moves (or 24 hours has elapsed) since the posting in question

Perhaps this rule clarification from the second posting on this quiz made by one of the forum quizmasters may help to make a clearer understanding of matters.

I am sure that the forum quizmasters only prefer to be contacted when far more serious matters arise

It wasn't, the same service was taken but only as far as Preston (Post #3247), so Fishquinn has had the same courtesy now. But anyway, that's history now.

An excellent conclusion.

From Yeovil Junction, taking an ordinary timetabled service, we then board 1L44, the 1232 South West Trains service to Basingstoke, arriving there at 1402 on Sunday afternoon.

Glad we got that sorted out!

Lets carry on the journey with Stagecoach in Hampshire service 2 departing outside the Railway Station at 1438 and arriving at Tadley, The Parade at 1458 on Sunday afternoon.

There isn't much point going to other destinations along this route, as it is the only route through these areas, so we then board the 1520 Stagecoach in Hampshire service 2 to Basingstoke (Bus Station), arriving there at 1546 on Sunday afternoon.

HOLD HOLD HOLD

Now that fishquinn has deleted both of his affected postings, this takes us further back.

Take 2!

In the absence of any more trains or buses to anywhere interesting we have a leisurely night in Plymouth and return to the railway station to catch 2C43 the 0915 First Great Western service to Liskeard where we arrive at 0942 on Sunday morning.

We then decide to see some ships close up so we walk to the Railway Station bus stop on Saltash Road and catch the 1524 Plymouth Citybus service 32 and alight at the terminus point at Devonport Torpoint Ferry where we arrive at 1538 on Sunday afternoon.
