Not sure to be honest. I need to find my 1974 abc to check. It was listed as in service in 1973 though when locos were renumbered. Withdrawn by 1975 though.
Wikipedia says it was withdrawn in 1973 without being renumbered; "however this unit [sic] was allocated a TOPS number, 02 002 but it was never carried by the unit [sic]" Only 02001, 02003 and 02004 are listed as being given TOPS numbers.

So, does "allocated but never carried" count?

  • All numbers used in calculations, and as the results of calculations, must be locomotive numbers which have existed at any time since 1973 to the present day within the current 5-digit numbering system. They must have been carried on a locomotive at some time.
I have just checked the rules,an allocated number has to have been carried.
