Does anyone here play the online TOC game? If so are you having problems getting onto the website today, the URL is usually http://jpl.yi.org/~tocgame/v5/ but for some reason it is down and has been for a couple of hours. I was wondering if they may have changed the URL and i had not noticed this.

Karl :)

Just been trying to set myself up but it keeps saying 'failed to create player.' Any ideas? The game looks really interesting!

Got that error too when I wanted to create my 5th account there. ;) As I seldom play it always led to a point that I will forget my original account.

Is there something dodgy about the questions it asks you?

I could never work the answers out, and eventually had to get in by looking at the HTML code.

Nothing dodgy, I don't think.

Took me a few tries, but I got in in the end:!:

Also, with the 'Failed to create player' it's probably because it's taken a while to get the game working 100% properly since the server change.

The idea is that you read the Rules then tick the appropriate boxes. If you get one wrong then go back to the beginning and re-read the Rules.

It's not exactly hard.

I went through that process several times.

When I checked the HTML code (and this was about a year ago, so it may have changed) I remember that there was one answer that you had to give which didn't tie up with what the rules said. I think I emailed someone at the time to inform them but don't remember whether or not I got a response.

Probably the same bug then. I know several people that have had to 'cheat' the system in order to get in, so I wonder if any of the players have actually got in properly?

I got in by ticking what I knew was right (all except 2 that were needed) then trying the various combinations left until I finally got in

Just confirming my opinion that Chaz was being needlessly patronising, then.

All part of the service. 8)

Having just tried another user, using the registration system e.g. without having to cheat and look at the HTML Code, I can quite gladly confirm that I got registered first time around. Must be my 'patronising' ways that did it...

In the end, Patronising? I think not. However feel free to PM so we can have a friendly chat about this. 8)

Don't worry, I have had contact with the author and the entire game is in my possession. Together with Airline mogul team we're working on it to get it running again. But the coding is hard and we want to understand it before we make it available to the public again.

I'm also planning a minor improvement for a speed server. And a Hard game scenario where 50 to 75 percent of the market is to be regulated by contracts.

So please give us some time to get it running properly again. I will keep you guys updated.

Just a small update:

I managed to get scenario's running.
The problem to solve now is account creation which somehow gives an error.

I am pleased to announce that everything appears to be working correct.

Coming days we will conduct some testing and if everything proofs to be fine the game should be available within a week.

Is there a chance you could fix the Greater London 2000 scenario while your messing with it, there was only one way to get to Wimbledon on it, and that was the less busy one!

Although it's not top priority at the moment, I might get my hands on it when everything is working.

Just created some user accounts and testing the London Tube scenario to see if I didn't miss something when I bought the server online.

@MCR247, not yet. But I assure you it is just a matter of days rather then weeks.

Somehow the Scenario data needs to be re-written in a lot of cases due to some odd errors in scenario data. Problems include:
- player is unable to create stopping services on some lines due to train length restrictions.
- player is unable to create semi-fast services on some lines due to train length restrictions.
- player is unable to create express services on some lines due to train length restrictions.

Examples can be found on Great Western scenario where the game forces you to run express trains between Reading and Swindon, calling at Didcot seems impossible at the moment.
Another example can be found on Pennines scenario where one is only allowed to run local trains.

As a result of above problems, there will be a limited choice of available scenario's until all have been checked.

A scenario which seems to be working properly is the "London Underground" one.

I am currently in my night shifts, so I have very limited time, as I prefer to do some relaxing at work (watching DVD)

As soon as I feel confident to upload the game I will post it on the forums.

Oh I nearly forgot, there is a scenario with a route from Victoira to Gatwick where there are no passengers, not sure which one though could be Greater London or maybe a South east one, anyway it seems pretty pointless it being there really.

I remember that one, it was done intentionally so you could only carry passengers there if you had won the relevant contract.
Anyway, nice to hear that the game is being worked on.

I am pleased to announce that the TOC game is available again.

Please browse to http://tiny.cc/jcdm9 to register your user account. After one hour your username will automatically be activated.

Please remember that due to some issues in certain scenario's data files, the number of available scenarios is very limited at the moment.

In the next weeks Ill be looking at these files and upload them into the database.

A new forum will also be implemented to the site for TOC game related issues and chat.

Please note that we uploaded the game today and as a result we had not the chance to test it yet. So don't be upset if we decide to make some changes to the site or scenario's, or reset a game. I don't think we need to reset a game, but you never know.

If you want to make your own TOC game scenario we'll be more than happy to implement it into the game. Details will be available on the forum soon.

For some scenario's the train image file is outdated and some pictures are missing. (class 66 for example). So if you want to get involved in TOCgame then please drop me a line.

The game was off line for 5 weeks. In that time I learned a bit about php and mySQL databases. We should all thank Oskari Saarekas for his support and willingness to share the game with us once more

One final word. Why not follow TOC game on Twitter at @TOC_game and keep updated about developments or have your questions been answered.
