This is just a pure guess, but is this the tour that was booked for a pair of black fives but is now to be operated by a pair of Jubilee's, perhaps a gauging issue with the change of traction?

I see that Dobbin's Rottweiller, Ray Mason, has been trotted out to lecture us all for being horrible to his pal Nigel as people are pointing out that yet again customers are not getting what they have paid for, and may yet get even less.

So will you please leave poor old Nigel alone so he can get on with his international jaunt - I mean - it's not as if he has a business back here in the UK to run is it?

And lo! it came to pass - All Ray Mason's snuggling up to his best pal Dobbin to try to re-assure the cash cow punters that their money was safe with RTC has, as so often happens with this company - gone tits up big style.

Two jubilees - No! currently - 44871 and 45699 - but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see 48151 on the day.

And as far as the website promise of Blackburn - Bolton - Manchester - Stockport - Altrincham - Hartford - Wigan - Preston.

Well now its Blackburn - Preston direct.

Book with this lot?!? - not unless you like getting something you didn't want and something you would not have paid so much for - and time that someone rolled out the 1894 Sale of Goods Act and lined the whole damned tour provider combine up for the legal kicking it so richly deserves

TBird Frank, you seem well knowledge in loco availability and route programming but it would help if you could show evidence as to what you say, has all other correspondence with this tour states different.

look forward to your reply

That is exactly my point

RTC are still publicising a route and motive power that are widely known to be wrong only four days before the tour. That is more than unfortunate - it is misleading.

Have a look on the other forums and you will see for yourself that all these changes are common knowledge in the informed" movement.

The motive power is not two Jubilees - its 44871 and 45699 - but watch out - that may yet change.

The route has altered so many times its been impossible to keep up.

With basic fares approaching £100, if I buy a ticket I expect just one thing - what I bought, not what someone else can sell me - and if that vendor thinks that his own terms and conditions override his responsibility to deliver subject to his obligations under the various sales of goods acts - he may soon learn different.

see you state again that the locos are not the jubilees, you don,t know, you only assume it is, unless you are not saying??, yes the route has changed as shown by Steam Tours but the locos have not since day one of it being shown.

I am sorry but I can't help flat earthers if they will not accept the realities of life.

The facts are the facts - I am not going to trot out references and sources just to please you.

If you think I am wrong then by all means check. You will discover that I am not or I would never have posted.

There are Light Engine movements (plus POB) for 44871 between Castleton and Blackburn on Saturday and Monday; 5Z43 and 5Z49. I think this confirms that its this loco. Unless West Coast decide not only not to use 45690 but also 45699 too, it does rather look like its a Jubilee piloted by a Black 5.

Frank, if your TBird is on the road at the moment, any chance you can bring it to Romiley on Sunday to get a supporting role in a video please?

I can understand a Jub being subbed in for a 5MT but surely swapping them for an 8F without notice wouldn't be possible because of speed restrictions on the 8?

A 12'' long piece of concrete smashed through the firemans side front window of 44871 during the climb to Copy Pit.
Fortunately no one was hurt and BTP have been informed as the incident is thought to have been deliberate.
