Not really a realistic option for commuting, or travelling with any sort of purpose, on grounds of frequency, journey time or cost though. ;) Damn nice part of the world to live in nonetheless though I'm sure.

Who cares about all that? STEAM!

Less than a mile away from Bulwell, but i normally use Hucknall (about 3 miles away) as all trains stop there, you've a better chance of finding a parking space, and best of all, you're car is still likely to be there when you return! :D

I'm about 250m from my local station.

Try this one, looks directly onto the platform http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-27014065.html

I do wonder whether a morning DMU to connect with services at NR Kidderminster (as "one train in steam") would be able to cover its costs. I suspect a place like Bewdley with a population of 9000 would make good use of such a service.

Having read a bit more seems Chiltern have proposed extending services here.

Depending where I want to go it would be:-

Seaham just over 1.5 miles to go local, can walk it in 45 minutes, to goto London, Sunderland is about 7 miles, can walk that in about 3-3.5 hours and Durham is about 12 miles, just over a half hour on the bus, or 5 hours walk as I found out last year when East Coast made me miss the last bus home one night after watching footy in York

when I am in Merthyr a brisk 10 or so minutes. Nearest other stations (apart from further down the line) are Aberdare, Rhymney etc.

However, as there are no longer any links they all lead to Cardiff anyway. the service is atrocious by the way!

When in West Wales, the nearest station is Ammanford about 5 miles away, but the most useful is Llanelli about 10 miles away.

I have what I call "the 7 minute rule" - if I leave the house 7 minutes before the train's scheduled departure time, I have no need to rush or worry about missing it.

Sad, yet functional.

15 minutes from either or just one of them. as to walk between two it took me nearly 45 mins

I was rounding down a little, I admit. Getting up from the level of the Aire up to Burley Park is a bit of an uphill push, so that walk between the two might be 45 minutes, but its not inconcievable to do Burley Park to Leeds City in 35 minutes (Cardigan Road, Alexandra Road, Westfield Road, Burley Street, Park Lane, across Park Square, St Paul's Street, Infirmary Street)

And it's cheaper than the 19 :p

Considerably cheaper than the buses in leeds. Robbing so and sos.

First year i was in halls but second year i got a house next to burley park and its saving me so much money... just addd 5p to a train ticket rather than 3.40 return on bus to station. great stuff. Hate first leeds.

Ah yes well that isn't the route i take as it's usually via uni i'll give it a try one day.

In my last job, I used to leave the desk 2 Min 30 Sec before the train was due. This gave me enough time to get onto the platform and be in the right position to be at my preferred door just as the train pulled in.

5-10 minutes walk from three stations: Birmingham New Street, Birmingham Moor Street and Five Ways.

2 miles to Aylesbury Vale Parkway or if travelling north then 12 miles to Bicester North or a similar distance to Leighton Buzzard.

Less than 10 min walk from the car park that was Winchester Chesil and less than 15 min from Winchester City.

I can see the nearest railway line from my kitchen window. Shame that the nearest station is three miles away.

A 35 minute brisk walk from St Helens, taking the canal towpath (which is prohibitively muddy in wet weather!)
I would benefit from an altogether more leisurely 10 minute stroll if the anticipated Carr Mill station is (re)built.

I may have moved by then, though :)
