Regarding the idiots who spray painted over loads of trains etc, and got a big jail term for it.. vote for wheter you think the setence was too long, just right or to short.

Some cheeky bloke even rang into Radio 1 during the news, and said: 'who cares if they are spraying trains.. they look better now, who wants to look at boring old trains and stations anyway. I love their work'

Whilst I agree that some people get off with less, I think the judge has set about the right standard of punichment for these vandals. Some of the comments on the MEN website regarding their stories made me laugh though!

£13000 of damage, one got 12 months, the other got 15.

Well i think the fine is too much but with the jail term, they will think twice. Still they should be made to clean the graffiti of their local area railway network if they done it or not.

I thought jails were overcrowded anyway, someone is f****** up somewhere....

Jail is where people learn new traits and learn how to become even bigger criminals. It doesn't work for certain offences like this unless they are given education and learn new skills (unlikely given the problems in Jails at the moment).

Errr no, that's not their fine, that's how much damage they caused. They don't have to pay a penny of it.

maybe instead of putting them in prison which will do no good what so ever they should have gave them community serivce where these guys would get a chance to show and teach their talents to other people in an appropriate manner and in the right place, i.e: a local community centre.

Or as an external train cleaner. That way they'd get to admire this form of "art" that they like so much, but at the same time find out that it isn't simply a case of putting a train through a washer to clean it off and getting them to do some hard work.

That's way to little, though. For the damage they caused, they should have been given at least 2 years each. Plus a fine.

I feel the sentences should have been suplemented with a community order especialy as some of the damage was done on the ELR to carriages restored by volunteers. I feel the comments by Steven Holt and David Peacock Here are worth a read, and also some of the comments on the articles on the Manchester Evening News website.

Having known one of them who was sentenced, who is a very friendly lad BTW but what they have done is obviously wrong. What gets me is the fact that they are more serious and victimising crimes should as stabbings, rape etc and those offenders are getting a less of a sentence and a much lesser sentence.
