Is there any requirement to increase the width of the 'six foot' as line speeds increase? I'm on a HST at the moment on a fast section of the ECML and the 'hammer blow' when a train passes in the opposite direction is enough to make things on the tables jump. I can't imagine it does the structure of the carriages any good either.
If this is what it's like with a c 250mph closing speed, I can only imagine it would be significantly stronger when the closing speeds are closer to 400mph.
Are there any examples of it doing actual damage e.g. popping a window out?
