Hi,

Im booked to travel on the Scarborough Spa Express on 04/08/10.
Does anyone know if the "Hogwarts Express" (No 5972) has been repaired yet?

Cheers

Mike

As far as I'm aware, the next 2 weeks will be 45407 on the SSE.
The Hall is out of gauge (allegedly) so would at least need a test run. It is still supposed to be coming to York but may not work any trains.
45407 was booked for this week and next followed by 5690 for a week after its trip to Hartlepool.
However, I've seen some times for 45407 to move from Castleton to York next Friday though there were also times for a move today.
If it doesn't move today, maybe the Scot again this week providing the axle box that prevented its use to Carlisle yesterday is Ok.

45407 last week and should be out this week too.
After that 5690 apparently.
Unless they decide that the Hall is not out of gauge - fingers crossed on that one.;)

This weeks engine (10-12Aug) is Leander, unless they break it! Today (Tues) looked well busy would estimate about 40-45% seats occupied so looking good! Weds?? Thurs??

444 punters booked on today (Tuesday). Add pay on the day types and you can say 500ish.
Who was it said that the new route wouldn't be popular?
Oh yes I remember, it was me!:D

Near where the 3 ridings meet
Heard today that the reason for the Hall not running is gauging problem at Wakefield between Kirkgate and Westgate.
Can anyone confirm?
I must admit that when looking down at the viaduct from the train it did appear a tight fit on the UP side.

Gauging, yes; location, not sure but I'm told NR have insisted on a test run to see what, if anything, it hits before it can cover the route. Whether WCRC will bother remains to be seen. After all, the trains are doing very well without it and the NRM are no doubt quite happy to have it for the kids to come and look at.

Can someone clear up a point here regarding the coaching stock, are all the slider windows above the tables screwed up? I know those in the doors have to be opening but what about the others? H&S types and all that.................!!

No they aren't, some are a bit stiff though. The one in our compo needed a kick with a foot to open!

I rode on the Scarboro Spa Express yesterday from Normanton return.
46115 was in charge and performed as or better than required for the round trip.
The train was fair notching along after Seamer, but slowed on the approaches to Weaverthorpe Box.
A good day out with a good loading from all the stations, and a good service provided by this locomotive. No fault found.
