Some critiscisms about both videos.

1. GET RID OF THE MUSIC !!!!!!!
2. For whatever reason, there is a lot of camera shake. Was you using tripods?
3. In the first video, you missed trains approaching. Where you caught unaware by approaching trains?
4. No talking over the video either.

More when I think of them.

A caption telling the viewer the name of the location might be a nice addition?

I recognise the first location in the first video as Colton Junction, I would recommend a better angle for the 185 though. If you're going to have pacers and Pongos, then you may as well have music to be honest (as otherwise it'd be boring), but I think people would generally prefer videos without music of 'proper' trains that thrash, here's an example: http://youtube.com/watch?v=pLEUZhgirR0 Also not convinced by the location where the Pendos etc were filmed, there seems to be a lot of obstructions in the way of the camera. Pick your spot carefully if going to a location with OHLE.

I'm not convinced that videos of 455s are likely to go down too well with the majority of enthusiasts, but if you are going to have a video of 455s my suggestion would be to get to more 'scenic' locations, have less build-up, and make the angles more 'interesting'.

Hi Fred.

I thought the first video was quite good.

Camera was a bit shakey, a few bad angles and missed approaches, but it's better than some I have seen and although i don't like Crazy Frog the music did sort of fit in quite well, but I would always prefer it without music.

However, I'm afraid the beginning of the second video did sort of ruin it. I'd keep that out if I were you.

The song is actually Harold Faltermeyer's 'Axel F.' The Crazy Frog just used the same tune.

It's only people's opinions, perhaps you should choose to ignore them?

RUK is mature, it's just a lot of people don't like Fred, I guess.

Leaving the forum is rather immature don't you think? Just because people are critisizing your videos.
The people on here are your target audience, and you're not really listening to what they're saying. Alot of people may not be nice about the videos, but it's just their opinion, and with us being your target audience, you should be listening to what we're saying and trying to improve your videos accordingly.

Any advertising is good advertising - if its being discussed then it will carry on bouncing to the top of the thread list.

As its at the top the thread gets more hits from passthroughs from index.php. By stopping posting on here you'd essentially be losing one portion of your target audience, as Gizmogle says.

note for future - POST ON MORE MATURE FORUMS
Only one person (nath) has acted immaturely, his actions do not mean the forum as a whole is immature.

and also the term "mised aproaching trains" they were cut, if you wanna stare at a slowly moving train for five minutes as it crawls round the corners in the far distance thats your bloody problem
I think it's about getting the right balance, and people are liekely to disagree slightly on the best approach. It does, however, seem daft to say it is "your bloody problem" to someone who presents an alternative view. You can choose to ignore their views, or perhaps strike a balance.

but the least they can do is say why they dont like it and why, and not start squabbling randomly. anyway i'll be leaving this forum soon so i dont really care anymore
Everyone has suggested constructive criticism, the only person who didn't was Nath and it's silly to leave the forum because of what one member said.

And Nath - it's difficult to see why you meeting just 2 members on this forum should put you off the other few hundred?

It seems both 'sides' here need to take a step back, cool down a bit, and consider if it's wise to blow this out of all proportion, and to remember that there are many individuals who use this site. Disagreements happen from time to time but there is no point getting wound up over it.

You may actually find that if you leave this site to escape one member, that member may be on that forum too! ;)

I think the videos are rather poor, here are some of the reasons:-

Music that didnt suit the video.
Music.
Talking.
Shakey camera.
Editing is a bit questionable.

More if I think about it.

I rather liked the first one guys, as you managed a few times to get good angles. But please just buy a tripod, it would improve your films quality. Also the music was a little bit...off putting. The second film didn't interest me (well its 455s isn't it?) so my comments are on the first film.

Oh and please don't film across roads. I don't like having random cars fill the screen. :)

looking forward to more (are you going to seek a media career btw? Just interested)

One point I feel should be raised is that as the SWT 455 refurb program continues, there are not so many left in 'original' condition. Capturing the last months of the unrefurbished units in service does have some historical value providing the quality is acceptable.
