Is anyone thinking of having a ride on this: http://www.nelpg.org.uk/service/northearternmountaineer/index.htm ?
It should be a good ride out, 153 of steam haulage with Mk1 stock (hanging out of windows
) and a WCRC heritage loco for the rest of the trip. Should be a nice bit of steam thrash over the S&C, Monday freight at Carlisle and then a ride back via Leeds and the ECML.
£59 for 8.5hrs on the train and a 1.5hr stop over at Carlisle. If I go (which is pretty likely) I'll get on the train at Darlo (ALSO CALLING NEWCASTLE, YORK, HELLIFIELD AND LEEDS)
would love to hear from others thinking of having a day out
