It never was a stop on Northern services from Manchester Airport to Liverpool, as far as I know...
Not the ones I used to see at Piccadilly on my way back and fro from Scotland/my old boarding school anyway.

When I made the comment about Earlestown, it was stated that Earlestown was not a station outwards from services from MIA or MAN.

However, if you look at Ivo's post # 3441, you will find the service was actually passing through Manchester Victoria, not either of these two, so my posting clarification of Earlestown...after the posting of Newton le Willows was correct. Refer to the Northern Rail timetable 15 (Manchester Victoria to Liverpool) which confirms my point.

Yup. thats what I thought with it too, hence why I went for Earlestown after St Helens

If we were on a service from Manchester Victoria that went past Newton le Willows, Earlestown HAD to be the next station, as the timetable says it is the case. Every single service from Manchester Victoria stops at Earlestown..there are no fast ones from Newton le Willows to St Helens Junction that run from Manchester Victoria station.

The other posters claim to have been travelling from Manchester Airport, but I cannot recall the then nominated stations at Eccles and Patricroft ever being served by trains from Manchester Airport or from Manchester Piccadilly. The only direct route from Manchester Piccadilly to Eccles is by the use of the Manchester Metrolink system..:roll:

I am not being pedantic for the fun of it...as much as I had to raise the matter of Manchester United FC Ground station earlier last evening.
