ADJUDICATION

Unadvertised passenger trains that run on an as-required basis cannot be used. Manchester United Football Club is invalid and must be struck-through, and we continue from Manchester Oxford Road.

The problem we face on this quiz was the original rules had a specific section where the matter of such stations as Manchester United football club were ruled invalid was clearly stated being both non-timetabled in service provision and only used on an add-hoc basis could be clearly seen by contestants.

The recently re-written rules, after a consultation period of a year, were said to be far more simplistic, but the current problem we have just faced is that there is no section as such in these new rules that a new contestant, unaware of the original rules, could see nor could any long-serving contestant refer to in a posting to draw attention to such a matter.

I hope that by making two postings that were posted by two of the current four quiz adjudicators, both currently on holiday and unaware of matters, that were made on this very same subject matter under the original rules, will have shed some light on the matter.

Well, there was a one year period of consultation between the forum quizmasters and the four adjudicators to this quiz, before the new "simplified" rules version shown on the very first posting on this quiz was launched.

I totally agree with you that the matter that caused this hiatus was one that needs attention by the forum quizmasters, as the original rules of the quiz covered that very matter.

I disagree with the view that the matter should be covered by the "long wait" scenario, as that covers actual timetabled journeys, whereas Manchester United football club's station is only used on an ad-hoc basis, as and when required.

I will use the "report" button on this posting in an attempt to convey the current unresolved rules hiatus to the forum quizmasters.
