It may be an opportune time to remind both old and new contestants of the points implications contained in Rule 6a.

From 0900 this morning to 1835 when the final and winning posting was made on that last leg, a time period of 9 hours and 35 minutes had elapsed.

As I see it, that rule applies when play reaches the 3rd last station, i.e. when the next player to go must concede the points, and not at the 2nd last station when the next station wins. There were only 9 minutes between Girvan (3rd last station) and Barrhill (2nd last), therefore I don't think any penalties are applicable here.
