Whats the rule on stations that have no service but remain open such as Newhaven Marine or the other two whose names escape me at the moment but which remain technically open

Technically, Newhaven Marine gets one service per day - namely 2F30 2015 Newhaven Marine to Lewes... of course, whilst it is clearly not running, it is listed as a timetabled service on RTT - it just gets cancelled everyday. Can I ask for clarification on this very obscure point please?

Newhaven Marine station, whilst still technically open, does not appear on National Rail Enquiries, nor in any published timetable, and it is no longer possible to buy a ticket to that station as it has also been removed from the fares database. Therefore it cannot be a valid posting.

For a station to be valid, there must be at least one train per week (not replacement bus) that is advertized in a published timetable. In this regard, Real Time Trains may be disregarded, as it is not a published timetable. It is an open data source that shows booked train paths from Network Rail's internal systems, including many that never run. For the handfull of stations in limbo, like Newhaven Marine, they are valid only if a train appears in the eNRT, or on a TOC website, NRE journey planner or similar.
