That move has been edited as when I typed Melton Mowbray, I am positive it was the second posting of Leicester...

Have struck through Melton as it's not valid from Syston, but people please strike through rather than edit. Thank you.

If Syston is deemed to be valid even though 2 agree it was edited rather than struck through, then the only valid move from Syston is Sileby and we are heading up the MML.

I think we need an adjudication from another adjudicator to verify where they think we should be.

First off, apologies for the delay in adjudicating, folks. I had popped off when I had seen it was getting rather busy, thinking one less player would reduce the odds of confusion.

As there are two witnesses who believe that the post has been edited and the suspected editor has popped off for the evening, I think that the only adjudication that I can give is to rule that the post has indeed been edited. Thus we assume the original post of Leicester, which was a duplicate.

ADJUDICATION

I have been away since we were in the wilds of Western Scotland on this quiz earlier this evening and the reading of all the postings made since then makes for very sorry reading indeed. Had I been a teacher and all contestants been in one of my classes, you would have all been in detention tonight.

Seriously though, when I see a new contestant on this quiz in my capacity not only as that of a senior adjudicator, be it in helpful guiding visitor messages for new website members or in private messages, I always state that a reading of the rules of this quiz as contained on the very first posting on the quiz will be very useful, especially noting this quiz also has a leg-winner points scoring facility.

The matter of "retrospective post editing" by the alteration of an existing posting, instead of the rules requirement that it should be struck through, is to be abhorred as it goes totally against the spirit of the quiz and can lead to totally unnecessary arguments.

I totally agree with the decision to make the points deduction for the case in question that occurred this evening.
