Is that a valid move, seeing how Waterloo is in London?

London Waterloo is in London, Waterloo station, if you check table 101 (I think it's that one) is on Merseyside on the Southport line.

London Waterloo is also an invalid starting station as the rules state that there must be 2 different stations on 2 different lines that can be reached. The line from London Waterloo only goes to Vauxhall, therefore negating the possibility of it being a starting station. (There is a discussion on this somewhere around the 60000 posting mark I think).

1. How to play

At the start of a game, the OP(at the very beginning or if necessary) or the player who previously ended a leg of the journey, will choose a starting station (unless the player has called an open floor, in which any player can choose a starting station) that adheres to the following criteria:

It is on NR rails (or Merseyrail)
It is not just a terminal station (There are two or more different stations that can be reached from it, on separate lines.)
It is not the same station as the one which ended the previous leg.

All this supposition is utterly meaningless as Quakkerillo has already made a posting that it was the Waterloo station on the Liverpool to Southport line was the one that he as leg-setter intended. I too would have understood this to have been the station intended.

Most of the stations in cities (and some towns) with more than one main station are generally shown on this quiz as being prefixed by the name of the settlement. For example, if Victoria as a single word was posted by a leg-winner, which station would you think of:-
London Victoria
Manchester Victoria
Southend Victoria

All of those trains run through Vauxhall. As stated, the discussion regarding this point was that the next station on the lines had to be on spearate lines. Hence Lowestoft is a valid starting station, whereas Paddington would not be (all trains run past Acton Main Line). I'm sorry I cannot put a link to the discussion at this time.

For information

The ruling is there must be 'two or more different stations that can be reached from it, 'on separate lines'. The general understanding is that the two different stations must be the next stations on the lines, hence why Marylebone can be considered acceptable (Wembley Staduim on the Wycombe line and Harrow-on-the-Hill on the Amersham line) whereas Eastbourne should not be (Hampden Park whether heading towards Lewes or Hastings), nor would Paddington, Euston, Kings Cross, Waterloo, Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Fenchurch Street and Moorgate.

I consider that the following 'terminal stations' (i.e. no through platform) are valid starting places, though I would appreciate Adtrainz confirmation of these: Bere Alston, Littlehampton, Brighton, London Victoria, Marylebone, Liverpool Street, Bourne End, Swansea, Carmarthen, Colchester Town, Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, Norwich, Stansted Airport, Cromer, Hull, Hatfield, Glossop, Manchester Airport, Southport, Bradford Interchange, Morecambe, Battersby, Inverness and Fort William.
