There is no mention of this in the "RED SECTION" at the bottom of the rules section contained on the very first posting of this quiz.

How long is this embargo scheduled for and does this fit in with the rules of this particular quiz?. Perhaps Clagmonster and Class 172 should be approached by PM to formalise an entry in that section. Could you be so kind as to deal with this as I am still coming to terms with matters that now need attention that arose during our 8-day holiday

Sorry if I wasn't clear, it was posted as a reminder that services to Hull shown in Table 39 (and others) are dated and are not shown as running past Selby between 25/07/14 and 05/09/14.

If you look at the "RED SECTION", the matter of the currently-in-operation 6-week "Chorley engineering blockade" is mentioned there, so this similarly-timed engineering project should also be in the "RED SECTION"

Perhaps you could include that Selby time period in your PM

Before I make an alterations to the red section, can I just clarify what are the exact details of this closure. Is the line completely closed between Selby and the next station along (Wressle?) - what route are services taking to Hull?

From National Rail Enquiries:

Refurbishment of Selby Swing Bridge from Sunday 27 July until Sunday 7 September 2014

Start date 27/07/2014 End date 07/09/2014 Route affected

All routes through Selby.
Train operators affected East Coast; First Hull Trains; First TransPennine Express; Northern Rail; Description
Selby Swing Bridge was built in 1889 and carries the railway over the River Ouse.

Between Sunday 27 July and Sunday 07 September 2014, Network Rail will be carrying out refurbishment work on the bridge costing £8 million pounds. Once the work is completed the structure should be maintenance free for 25 years and will enable trains to run at the normal line speed, removing a long standing speed restriction.

During this period of time no trains will be able to run between Selby and Hull.

First TransPennine and Northern Rail services are replaced by buses between Selby and Hull.

East Coast services are diverted between Doncaster and Hull via Goole. Buses will run between Doncaster and Selby.

First Hull Trains services are diverted between Doncaster and Hull calling additionally at Goole. Buses will run between Selby and Howden / Goole.

From National Rail Enquiries:

*snip*

Hmmm... the full closure lasts longer than a month however less than a month is left in the duration. I am inclined to add it (tomorrow) unless anyone has any objections?

The closure period is exactly the same 6-week period that is scheduled for the Chorley blockade and that particular line closure is currently shown in the "RED SECTION" and therefore the validity still exists until 5th September.
