Quick note, I haven't seen any mention of the closure of Bridgwater - Taunton. This section will be closed for at least another month

As I now understand matters, Class172 in his capacity as both an accredited forum quizmaster and an occasional contestant has kindly agreed to ensure the RED SECTION (showing all quiz embargoed lines) at the foot of the very first posting of this quiz is kept up to date and it is what is shown there at the time of postings being made that makes determination of validity. Contestants who feel that other line problems not shown there, should sent a PM to Class172.

In response to a couple of recent queries: the section regarding Bridgewater-Taunton is one I had not considered, but certainly is a valid one. I agree this should be added to the rules.

For any other posters unaware of the recent changes, yes I have agreed to update and maintain the section regarding line closures - I try to keep track of matters but it is often helpful if anyone notices it before, just to ping off a PM to me (Paul, please don't feel obliged to continue). Anything in the red section is counted as final for adjudication purposes, unless you feel the "embargo" is invalid and should be changed, then you should bring it up both in thread, and by alerting me.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
Temporary Line Closures/amendments:
During the present period, the following lines are deemed closed and therefore cannot represent a valid move.
  • Hebden Bridge - Burnley Manchester Road - (until Friday 28th March)
  • Exeter St. Davids - Newton Abbot - (until at least 18th April)
  • Barmouth - Pwllheli
  • Wadhurst - Battle - (until 2nd March)
  • Eastleigh - Fareham - until mid-March)
  • Dronfield - (until 1st April)

HOLD HOLD HOLD is called

The line from Exeter St Davids to Newton Abbot is currently on the "embargoed" list that is currently on view in the first posting rules section.

Exeter St. David's was the last valid move since the line southward is invalid — it is not however the last possible move.

From this point on Taunton-Bridgwater now applies.

But the line is out of use at Dawlish - surely I can move to St Thomas? ;)

Nonetheless, let's try this again - Exeter Central

There are no timetabled services along that stretch until the Sea Wall is opened. This is due to the inability of trains to turn round at Dawlish Warren, as the crossover west of Dawlish Warren is currently under possession and no bi-di exists east of Dawlish Warren

...and that's me for the night, with a flash of my 1250, keys picked up from the accommodation office and off to bed in a barrack block for the night......
