It's not what I played though. My move was from Kettering to Market Harborough. which was not valid since you posted first.

I've been in similar situations and left my move in as it was still valid, albeit not what I intended. I've looked at the rules and there is nothing in there about what the individual intended when making the posting. I personally feel that if we go with intention, rather than actual posting, we'll open a can of worms when we get near a winning move.

I'm happy to go with whatever the adjudicator decides.

But if for example you are at Exeter St Davids and you post Dawlish as your next move but as you are posting it, someone else posts Newton Abbot then the game is unfairly going to come to an early end. If you post a move that wasn't intended but still valid then I think you should have the option for it to still stand but it's also only fair that you should also have the option to strike it through in order to prevent an early end to the game. There's no can of worms to be opened here as regards winning a game. The situation could of course be avoided if it was a requirment that you quote the previous post when making your move.

Can I point out that in this specific instance, even if that Market Harborough is reinstated, the following post of St Pancras International is perfectly valid? The only thing it wouldn't be is a long-wait, which it is if we are going from Wellingborough.

I don't see why we need to back-track the leg, unless I've missed something...

Fair point, but the long wait applies to Wellingborough - Market Harborough instead.

We don't need to back track but I think we need to clarify the point so that we all know what to do when an inadvertent valid move is made.

But it wasn't a valid move. I have made it quite clear that my move was from Kettering and that I have not moved from Wellinborough.

I think the official line is that players may be required to reinstate valid moves if they have struck them out, but players have often waived this obligation in previous instances.

I think it is also important that discrepancies are raised immediately, or as soon as possible, after the posting concerned.

"If a submission has been posted by an author, which was seen as incorrect and crossed out having been superseded by an earlier post, but was then discovered to be correct, will make all submissions following it superfluous. The game shall restart from the submission which superseded the submission."

AFAIC, we restart from Wellingborough.
