That's doubling back. I specified the Cross country route (i.e. the North West - Southwest service) so its not a valid move

And? Its re-using a station that isn't permitted, not physically doubling back. Therefore, going Crewe - Wilmslow - Alderley Edge is permitted, or Glasgow Central - Paisley Gilmr. St. - Hillington West is permitted.

I think a better way of prhasing my original question would be, does anything call at Willington that skips Derby or Burton-on-Trent?

No, the only service which stops at Willington stops at Derby on the Down, and Burton-on-Trent on the Up

Gnolfe, you didn't actually post Willington as an entry, you merely made a query of the timetables. That facetious point aside, Glasgow Queen Street.

Oh. I think that was a bit of a mistake there. I thought I had actually said it :(

Anyway, since you're not pulling us back to Burton, I'll send us onto Ashfield

I know we're not in the area, but for information purposes, Liverpool Central has now reopened to Wirral Line trains. Northern Line trains are still not stopping.

Glad to see the Wirral line stops at Liverpool Central again, but it will be much better when the Northern stops there as well - any idea of when we can be expecting that?

The Northern Line platforms are scheduled to reopen on the 22nd of October.

Also, whilst on the Merseyrail website looking this up, I noticed that James St platform 1 will be closed from the 2nd of September until the 6th of January. Therefore, trains going into Liverpool will not call at James St, so it will only be a valid move from Liverpool Central (unless anything is booked to terminate in the middle platform, as far as I know there isn't).

So LVC should be fully open in time for the Miserytravel Challenge. That's going to make it so much easier to plan for :D

Is it a coincidence that you have posted Bridgeton in both this and 'Guess the Station'.

Not really, I'm convinced that Bridgeton is the photo from guess the station, despite having only been through once.

Dalmarnock is closed by the way :)
