No worries, I assume you are using a mobile device that can't manage it? Just leave a note by the dud post, in order to help with scoring, and put your new entry in a new post would seem a fair work round.

I tried to follow your examples, but it won't work for me.

Maybe I explaned it badly. If example is the word to be cross out, type {s}example{/s}, replacing the curver brackets with square ones (ie replace { with [). If that doesn't work, then I would suggest using the workround. As long as the entries are in separate posts and we can see what has happened, then I don't see the problem.

The reason for this is a couple of months ago there was a case whereby an edit and a post occured almost simultaneously, and we couldn't work out who had won the leg.

In many cases, yes, the system will automatically activate the double post prevention system, but it will still get on. It happens all the time. If somebody else posts in the meantime, which is the times when it matters, it will not be a double post. As far as I am aware, there is no problem with double posts.
