I've just found this for this coming weekend only. On subsequent weekends, the trains are shown as fast Huyton-Wigan, but no doubt running non-stop through Newton.
Table 90 shows the trains as fast from Huyton from 31st March, until the cease of the timetables validity, which is 13th May. Open train times shows the same.

On this evidence, I am minded to dissallow it, but I would be willing to reconsider if I say evidence of at least a weekly service for the current timetable period.
