And that is the points. I think I might have been better just sitting tight and waiting for someone else to take us to Swinton so I could poach points or take us somewhere to build more points up, not that there was any way of escaping that area really.

I believe has gone, you have just won (barring something towards the Dearne Valley missing Swinton).

Have I?!

I wasn't going to add Swinton anyway because I knew it would be game over heading north towards Leeds. But I forgot that we had already been through Sheffield too!

There is some method in my madness there, namely that I can't be bothered with figuring out what the hell to do with Nottingham, which it seemed almost inevitable that we would have ended up at at some point.

I'll kick us off at Portsmouth Arms.

Was this station not renamed to Cholsey about October 1950...Nearly 63 years ago ?

The signs (BR standard) read Cholsey & Moulsford in the 1970s as I remember seeing them on an unscheduled stop there around 1976-7. It was at a time Westerns were still around and some services out of Oxford [the next move] were being run using Scumdon Trans-Pennine style units with through corridors in the driving cab end.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England

In those days, matters were left for far longer to update than as is the case these days.
