Clitheroe (long wait at least)

Don't think that's valid (certainly isn't outside the summer months)...

This was the posting that caught my eye. Can matters be clarified of what was being discussed by the mention of walking.

I don't think the bit about walking is relevant to the original post. Bridgeton was the next valid station from Rutherglen as I pointed out Dalmarnock is still closed.

I will move things on from Hellifield with Gargrave.

I don't think there is one due to run for a few months. I understood we could only use services valid within 7 days of the date of the move.

I just saw it was scheduled to run on Sundays, further reading suggests it is only valid on Summer Sundays.

The point under discussion was whether Dalmarnock was still closed. I checked and NRE showed that you had to walk to Bridgeton for a train.

I hate to pull things back this far, but which service does Barking-Liverpool St without a call at Stratford? I apologise if I have missed one.

Whilst you have raised this matter, that was an occurrence upon a leg that has since had other legs set in motion since then, may I bring a similar matter into the equation that occurred in 2011 where the station of Kirkdale and nearby stations was a bone of contention. In that instance, it was decided that as the leg had been terminated and also the following leg, matters were left to stand but an adjudication posting was made to notify all contestants that there was a dual responsibility both to ensure the correctness of postings and also of those charged with the daily overseeing of matters (or very experienced competitors) to note any mistakes in a very short period of time, before matters had time to go on for far too long to ask that very many postings be "struck-through".

There are times when being a competitor at the inception of this particular quiz can help in making reference to matters of contention over a year old.

Your point is valid - error on my part. I'll take a 5 point penalty for making the error as it would appear difficult to wind back the clock to carry on from Barking or Stratford.

Barking is therefore a win, I'll just keep the same starting station that was already played.

Why don't we wait for clagmonster to confirm how we're to proceed with that leg as I don't think Barking is a win, as there are moves from there. Furthermore, the rules state:

If a submission to the quiz is incorrect, but there have been no further posts, the author may edit their post, so long as the original is shown as crossed out. After striking through an incorect entry, you mustuse reply rather than edit to post your new entry. This aims to prevent confusion to allow for smooth proceedings.

If there have been further posts, either of two circumstances should occur;
i) The author states their position, thus making any posts after the original superfluous. The original incorrect answer should be crossed out. The game is then continued by a different individual, starting from the station before the incorrect submission.
ii) Another individual states their suspicion, which is then confirmed by another player. Anyone is then welcome to continue the game, again starting from the station before the incorrect submission. Again, the incorrect answer should be crossed out.

By the book to Barking. However, given the precedent which Paul describes, we should follow the previous adjudication and carry on from Clifton Down. I think we need to ask Adtrainz to clarify the rules on this matter.

As to what to do with the leg that included the contentious post, I don't think we can award a win for Barking, as there were valid moves from there over the T&H. I think the two fairest options would be to score the leg as if Stratford was played in between Barking and Liverpool St, or to void the leg completely.
