Clue 5: This station contains the name of the settlement it serves plus a suffix, The suffix was included when the station reopened in anticipation of the possibility of a new station opening on the site of another former station nearby, to avoid a future name change. That station did in fact open but was not given the name that was then expected.

Hope that's not too complicated...

Clarification: Gidea Park technically has four platforms, but only two (the Up and Down Electric) are ever used. Does this count?

I kept coming back to that one but Balshaw Lane to me isn't really a suffix, it's a descriptor. A suffix (ignoring the strict dictionary definition of one which is for example -d on close to get closed or -ly on eager for eagerly) would be a compass point, central, town etc and just a single word. However reading the wiki entry for EBA I can see that Balshaw Lane was added for the reason given in clue 5, so I'd go with it, I just got a little too hung up on what constitutes a suffix, after all, it's a game we're playing.
