Clue 5 - the signal box that controls this station; and the train crew depots for most of the crews who work through it; are situated at the 8-platformed station one stop to the north

That's just about all I could come up with, the counties below 200m limits it a lot and then 8 platforms rules out just about all but Cambridge, for completeness I am going to have to put in a guess of Foxton, but it still has a junction to the quarry.

Clue 4: This station would normally be expected to see only classes 142, 150 and 156 calling, although other classes, both pre- and post-privatisation, can also be seen passing through this station without stopping.

Trafford Park being precisely 7 stops from my Local :)
